Tokyopop (formerly known as Mixx, usually stylized as TOKYOPOP) was an American was a distributor, licensor, and publisher that licensed the manga Hetalia: Axis Powers. After the publication of the first two volumes, the company announced that US publishing operations would shut down on May 31, 2011, the day that Volume 3's release had originally been scheduled. One year later, it was announced that the remaining assests of the company had partnered with Right Stuf to publish the first two volumes of Hetalia On-Demand, and later print the third volume for the first time using completed materials. Both companies have expressed the intention of publishing further volumes, but as of December 2012 nothing has come to fruition.
The German Branch of the company, known as Tokyopop Germany and sometimes Tokyopop Europe, continues to operate and in 2012 licensed the Hetala manga, and so far four volumes and the ArteStella Artbook have been released in German.
