Chapters

This volume largely consists of cleaned up reprints of Shonen Jump+ strips. Reprints of webcomic material, as well as illustrations from Kitayume and Bamboo Thicket, are also scattered throughout the book, with stories often divided up between chapters. Each respective part of these reprinted webcomics are detailed below with the chapter it is grouped with.

Chapter 44 (第44章?)
Latvia asks Russia what task he's been asked to perform, but ends up insulting his style of clothing as old and outdated in the process. Russia asks him to finish building a railroad. Latvia questions the logic of this request, and points out that he's an agricultural nation, and continues to point out the flaws in this arrangement even as Russia begins to exert pressure on him. In the end he ends up building it, but expresses doubt that it will work, only for it to run perfectly. Latvia is shocked and impressed by his ability, but only to a point. Originally serialized as the sixty-second chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 3" of the anime series.
Chapter 45 (第45章?)
Estonia asks Latvia if he's doing alright with the work Russia's asking him to do, and shocked by exactly how much work it actually is. Latvia speculates that it's because of how successful he was as constructing a train, but that making medicine and pounding iron is new and interesting, and works as stress relief. Estonia is put off by this, and Latvia says that while he's working he passes the time by playing solo chess in his mind. Meaning to express sympathy and wish him luck, Estonia instead lets his real thoughts leak out and tells Latvia he's bragging. Originally serialized as the sixty-third chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 3" of the anime series.
Chapter 46 (第46章?)
In a follow-up to Chapter 42, England asks Italy to teach him about art and design for his manufactured goods. Italy asks him if he's sure he wants his help, and England says that since art has always been his forte he was the natural person to ask. Italy is immediately overwhelmed, and says that it's been so long since anyone asked for his help. During the lesson, Italy instructs England to pet a cat, and then conjure up an image of what he wants to design in his head. He then begins crafting a teacup, providing very vague instructions that are mostly sound effects, and presents the finished product to England, who declares he can't do that. Originally serialized as the sixty-fourth chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 4" of the anime series.
Chapter 47 (第47章?)
China laments about being behind Europe on the Industrial Revolution. Hong Kong, still a member of England's house, shows up and offers him one of England's technical books to help him get a leg up. China is touched, but as soon as he reads it discovers that he'd already done a lot that type of iron and steel work centuries earlier, much to Hong Kong's shock. A bonus illustration shows the many appearances of China. Originally serialized as the sixty-fifth chapter of World☆Stars.
Chapter 48 (第48章?)
America visits Japan during his second Industrial Revolution and is in awe of how much his home has changed since his last visit. America finds a bunch of stuff set up outside, and Japan explains that they are old household items that aren't being used, so he decided to offer them up if anyone wanted to use them. America says that it's like a garage sale, and Japan is confused by the term, only for their conversation too attract a buyer. Japan is surprised by how much the man pays and ends up feeling guilty about it. Meanwhile, England is looking through the items and wonders if he's found something he's been missing out on. In an aside, England explains that while other countries make jokes about his food, but it's because he focused all his attention on the Industrial Revolution and stopped being fussy about food. However, France interjects and says it's because England stopped employing him to cook for him. The first part of this chapter was originally serialized as the sixty-sixth chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 4" of the anime series.
Chapter 49 (第49章?)
England gathers some experts together to get feedback on how he can improve the beauty and design of his products. He explains that he tried copying French design, but it ended up not looking good. The experts are shocked by how bad the products look, and England explains that he's invited a coach from the east, Japan, to teach him about craft and design. Japan introduces himself, and the experts excitedly ask him questions unrelated to the task at hand that England finds ill-mannered. Japan says its fine, and a sheepish England asks him if he'll be using ninjutsu and shuriken at all while he's there. The footnote explains that the collaboration resulted in a distinct Anglo-Japanese style of design. Originally serialized as the sixty-seventh chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 4" of the anime series.
Chapter 50 (第50章?)
Japan begins to explain the technique behind painting ceramics, and England is overcome with emotion because, unlike Italy's explanation, he can actually understand it. After trying it himself, he excitedly announces he's managed to complete a piece, though he says its still nowhere near as good as Japan's. However, an excited Japan immediately asks to buy it off him, much to England's shock. England ends up giving it to him for free, confused as to why Japan would want something that's an imitation of his style. Originally serialized as the sixty-eighth chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 4" of the anime series.
Chapter 51 (第51章?)
Having successfully managed to incorporate Japanese-style art into his crafts, England begins wondering how he can mass-produce them with machinery and make a comeback in the Industrial Revolution. Japan suggests that, instead of trying to recreate these designs, he instead use designs that can only be created by machinery. England is excited by this idea, much to Japan's surprise, and ends up producing a pot with a mecha-like design. Japan is captivated by it, and asks England to mass-produce them for him as well. England is pleased with the feedback, but is thrown when Japan imagines manufacturing a human-shaped machine that can walk on two legs. Originally serialized as the sixty-ninth chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 5" of the anime series.
Chapter 52 (第52章?)
America becomes the number one manufacturer during the Industrial Revolution, surpassing England. While he's extremely excited about it, England is very annoyed, and condescendingly asks what his secret is. America explains that he manufactures a lot of a product in order to increase the supply, which allows him to sell it for a cheaper price, and says that it's easy enough that England can do it to. Romano pops his head in and begins mocking England for lagging behind. Originally serialized as the seventieth chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 5" of the anime series.
Chapter 53 (第53章?)
America decides to become the number one manufacturer of automobiles, stunning England with his mass production ability. France is less impressed, saying that people are more interested in brand-name cars that are stylish, but America points out that his engines are outdated. Italy, however, agrees with France, and says that its essential for a car to look cool in order to impress women. Germany argues that the most important features of a car are for it to be well-built and durable. Japan says that in the future he wants to create cars that can automatically avoid obstacles and can turn into robots. Meanwhile, China watches the conversation and laughs silently to himself, having already created an automobile three hundred years earlier. Originally serialized as the seventy-first chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 5" of the anime series.
Chapter 54 (第54章?)
In the midst of his industrial revolution, America becomes so busy trying to keep up with demand that he mulls over cancelling his vacation in the summer. Romano brags that he was able to have a two hour rest that afternoon, and America realizes that he's been so busy he hadn't eaten lunch yet. Romano offers to bring him some of his leftover Lasagne to eat, but America assures him he's alright because he has a chocolate bar, with the footnote explaining that American cuisine tends to be a lot of fast food for this very reason. Elsewhere, China notices that Japan might be catching a cold, and offers to make him some medicine out of some herbs. Japan notices that the ingredients seem to be rather old, and China unconvincingly denies that he's switched to using over-the-counter drugs. Despite his show of confidence in this method, Japan is worried. The first part of this chapter was originally serialized as the seventy-second chapter of World☆Stars. It was later adapted in the episode "Industrial Revolution - Part 5" of the anime series.
Chapter 55 (第55章?)
Romano calls Spain, having grown fed up working with America on industrial production. Spain is initially more interested in just chatting, but asks Romano what is wrong. Romano explains that he doesn't have anyone else who he can rely on at the moment, as he's been struggling following the reunification of Italy and has difficulty talking to his brother. He asks if Spain is also making a lot of money in the industrial revolution, and to his chagrin, Spain reveals that he doesn't know what that is, as he's kept his focus on agriculture. Originally serialized as the seventy-third chapter of World☆Stars.
Chapter 56 (第55章?)
Romano declares that he was stupid to count on Spain and won't anymore, but Spain asks him to continue to. He says that he's glad Romano seems to be well, and Romano asks how he is as they settle into a long phone call (as usual). Spain says he's having a festival every day so it's very lively, and Romano says that America's working him to the bone. Spain explains that the current festival is a fight festival and everyone is fighting, but Romano quickly points out that it's not a festival and people are just fighting, much to Spain's confusion. He explains he just thought people were being passionate, and Romano calls him a dumbass. Originally serialized as the seventy-fourth chapter of World☆Stars.
Chapter 57 (第57章?)
Spain says that he can't believe Romano of all people is working so hard, but Romano ends up yelling at him for playing a guitar during their conversation. Spain explains that if he stays irritated until the problem gets solved, it's just gonna end up consuming his life and he should try to keep his spirits up. Romano reluctantly admits that the advice is starting to make him feel carefree as well. Spain cheerfully says that as long as you have a strong heart and tomatoes everything will work out, and then realizes to his horror that he is out of tomatoes. Elsewhere, Spain expresses his condolences to Italy after he surpasses him to become the number one German tourist destination. The first part of this chapter was originally serialized as the seventy-fifth chapter of World☆Stars.
Chapter 58 (第58章?)
Spain, playing the guitar again, invites Romano to come visit his house and hang out. Romano refuses, saying he doesn't wanna go somewhere where a bunch of "old farts" are fighting all the time. Spain still insists he should visit, saying there's a new fad of flamenco dancing, which involves clamping down on roses between your lips. Romano asks who would want to see that, but Spain is distracted by the thorns on the stem of a rose cutting his lips. Romano calls him a dipshit, but becomes alarmed when Spain begins panicking and saying he's losing a lot of blood. In a brief flashback to when Romano lived at Spain's house, he declares that since he's grown and gotten stronger Spain can start relying on him more, but balks when Spain asks him to cook dinner. Originally serialized as the seventy-sixth chapter of World☆Stars. The bonus panel at the end was originally published as a request on Bamboo Thicket during the 2014 Christmas Event.
Chapter 59 (第59章?)
Spain ends his phone call with Romano, happy that he's doing well and vowing to do his best as well. Portugal tells him he's overdoing it with the long phone calls, and feels sorry after watching his bravado. Spain is shocked and embarrassed that he was eavesdropping, and insists that he was being genuine and points out that Portugal is doing just as badly as him. Portugal admits that it's true they're both lagging, but brags that he still has Macau as an underling. A bonus illustration shows various western nations adapting to the industrial revolution, while Portugal admits he finds using machinery tedious. England says if he allies with him he'll teach him how adapt, and Portugal quickly accepts. Originally serialized as the seventy-seventh chapter of World☆Stars. The bonus panel at the end was originally published as a request on Bamboo Thicket.
Chapter 60 (第60章?)
The complicated personal history between Spain and Portugal is touched upon, and the two begin to bicker after Portugal expresses satisfaction on how low Spain has sunk after calling himself "the empire on which the sun never sets". Spain asks for him to stop sucking out his life force whenever they meet, and the two reflect on how different they are. However, Seychelles walks in with a letter for Spain but can't tell the two of them apart. They're shocked, but quickly convince themselves that she was joking. Originally serialized as the seventy-eighth chapter of World☆Stars.
Chapter 61 (第61章?)
Spain and Portugal tell France about how Seychelles couldn't tell them apart, and France agrees that they aren't similar at all. He goes on to describe the way he would torment each of them in uniquely specific ways, one more in-your-face and the other more psychological, to illustrate the difference. Spain is confused as to why France would want to poke him, and ends up getting repeatedly poked by France, much to Portugal's amusement. However, later that night, Portugal begins to doubt the intention behind France's words, playing out the exact way France said he'd bother him. Originally serialized as the seventy-ninth chapter of World☆Stars.
Chapter 62 (第62章?)
Macau invites Portugal over for tea, and the two discuss how strenuous both of their schedules have been lately. Portugal apologizes for making life difficult for Macau lately, blaming his own incompetence for Hong Kong taking over as the top trading port in Asia. Macau says it's alright, since he considers Hong Kong a little brother and it's nice to see him grow up, and mentions that grown ups have more adult ways of making money. Elsewhere, Hong Kong asks Japan if he has a solution for the smog that has engulfed the city and made it difficult to see across the harbor, but Japan's go-to-solution is to miniaturize his home. The first part of this chapter was originally serialized as the eightieth chapter of World☆Stars. The second part is a partially reprinted version of the webcomic "AsiAsia", which had previously been reprinted as part of "Hetalia à la carte 1" from Hetalia: Axis Powers Volume 6.
Chapter 63 (第63章?)
This chapter explains how cats were already being domesticated by Ancient Egypt, but it was when Ancient Rome took over that they began to spread to other parts of the world. Around that time, whether they were already there or arrived through the silk road, cats began being kept as pets in China and the rest of Asia as well, which is how the practice began in Japan. Elsewhere, Hong Kong takes a selfie in front of a fake backdrop of his skyline, as his real one is too obscured by smog. The first part of this chapter was originally serialized as the eighty-first chapter of World☆Stars. The final panel is a reprinted version of the opening to the webcomic "AsiAsia", which had previously been reprinted as part of "Hetalia à la carte 1" from Hetalia: Axis Powers Volume 6.
Chapter 64 (第64章?)
When domesticated cats first arrived in Japan, they were primarily kept in temples and shrines to guard books and treasures. A young Japan enters a temple and asks to pet the cat, but is soon dragged away as the cat is currently working. Elsewhere, France asks the permanent members of the UN Security Team what their color would be if they were a Sentai team, and claims red for himself. However, America, China, and Russia also choose shades of red, leaving England to wonder if he could pull off wearing a Union Jack outfit in that group. The first part of this chapter was originally serialized as the eighty-second chapter of World☆Stars.
Chapter 65 (第65章?)
In the 15th and 16th centuries, Portugal and Macau enjoy their huge profits from Asian sandalwood and trade with Japan, but their conversation is interrupted when Netherlands throws a some crumpled up paper at them. Portugal says that behavior is "so like him", much to Netherlands' annoyance, and says that he's always following him around. Netherlands asserts that the sea doesn't belong to him alone, and footnotes explain that Netherlands was aggressively moving into maritime expansion and was preemptively capturing Portugal's trading posts. Netherlands explains that he's moving into trade in Asia, and Portugal wishes him luck before Netherlands asks him to give him Macau. Elsewhere, England threatens to use a magic wand to turn everyone into children, a prospect Russia doesn't mind as he thinks it'll make everyone get along. However, America sneezes and startles England, causing him to lose his grip on the wand and throw it at Russia. The first part of this chapter was originally serialized as the eighty-third chapter of World☆Stars. The second part was originally published as a request on Bamboo Thicket during the 2014 Christmas Event.
Chapter 66 (第66章?)
Following Netherlands' demand that Portugal give him Macau, the relations between them break down and a fierce battle begins - depicted as a card game. Netherlands attacks with his armada, but Portugal counters with an attack using Macau's canons and destroys it. In the aftermath Portugal laments that he should have played a different card while Macau reassures him. However, Czech registers their joint name as "Czechoslovakia", upsetting Slovakia as there's no hyphen in the name. Czech doesn't understand what the big deal is, but Slovakia explains that the hyphen makes them seem like partners, but without it he seems like her underling, and he continues tto throw a fit while making her sit on top of him.
