Romania

I am thinking that the Wallachia mentioned as a hooded figure in Hungary-related strips is indeed Romania, and Moldavia is Moldova. Anyone agreed with my theory? General tiu 20:00, June 5, 2010 (UTC)

I think it's plausible. Several regions might exist, but Wallachia just happens to be the one that survivors and becomes Romania. Same for Moldavia and probably Golden Horde/Ulus of Jochi. Ah, but...Which strip was Moldavia mentioned in? Watermint 05:06, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

Moldova was one of the chibis in the European Economy strip. And, if my opinion counts, I've always been in favor of Wallachia becoming Romania and the Bessarabia -> Moldavia -> Moldova chain, as well as the two being brothers. The Spie 17:30, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

Only as a name-drop on a world map in one of the historical strips for volume 3, right next to Wallachia naturally. We don't see any visual representation of him/her though, they're not mentioned in Hungary's rundown of enemies. As for Wallachia, though the translation used "that guy", the original text was actually gender-neutral. I'm guessing a boy anyway, though them being shown from behind so vaguely and in that cloak leaves a lot of room for guessing for either gender. Ceras SanMarina 19:22, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks^^ I think Wallachia will probably be male and turn into Romania. I know they have a cloak on, but there just seems to be something...masculine about the character. But, maybe Himaruya will surprise us? Hopefully Golden Horde's inclusion indicates more on Mongolia in the future. Golden Horde was part of the Mongol Empire--a very important part at that--and there was that Mongol character used in the past volume. Watermint 22:35, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

African nation genders

So Kenya seems to be female, Uganda's a boy, the unseen Ethiopia is male too if we take Seychelles' word for it, but the others seem to be up in the air. And it seems like this is quite the debate in some parts of the fandom!

It'd be nice if someone knew their original dialogue/text from the game, maybe the pronoun usage could give clues. I've found the screenplay for Gakuheta but their dialogue is more brief, no extra bits like Kenya liking nyama choma, Uganda taking their name from the kingdom of Buganda etc.. They just simply say they're British territory, but maybe their sentence-enders could provide clues. What do you guys think? I'll be using the romaji since the kana might not show up here, but I can provide that too if need be:

(Looking further into an annotated video of the game now, there's other bits of dialogue from the class, the script leaves out the chibi heads that some of the lines are assigned to, I'll only be including the lines with the accompanying heads)

• Ne, Seshieru, sanno kuni shou nani? (Kenya)

(This line is not assigned to a chibi head, but judging from the description of their emblem colors, Kenya comes to mind: "black for the people, red for the independence, green for the agriculture, the white for peace and unity". But there is the "ore", hmm. A boy? I need to find a guide for the different African flag/emblems...)

I'd hope that someone a lot more experienced in Japanese could clarify these D:. Seeing as the PSP version of Gakuheta is a revamped story, I'd be surprised if we see the Africa Class retained unless they remove the colony references.Ceras SanMarina 22:14, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

Gender Issues

Okay clearly now that we have newer images of Zea-kun, I can confirm he's male. Yes, yes, Himaruya's sloppy drawings can be hard to figure out at times, but by the looks of his uniform and hairstlye, he's definitely manly. Don't worry, we can blame it all on Hima for making his chibis all look like bigender children. Although Vietnam looks more masculine on Hima's recent doodles.

New Zealand is a male. He would have to wear a dress and play hooky to prove he's a feamle.

I agree with him being male, however I think we should leave it ambiguous until it's been completely, officially stated. I mean, Himaruya actually had him say "which do you think?" or something to that extent upon being asked, so it's clearly not supposed to be stated or confirmed, no matter how clear it is.

Really, my main reason is that he has nothing in his hair. All of Himaruya's female characters have hair decorations, and he has none, so he's not a girl. --Tarafish 03:33, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Honestly, New Zealand probably is male, but because all of Himaruya's characters tend to be very pretty and a normal proportion drawing isn't yet available where they aren't obscured by a sheep, the possibility of New Zealand being a flat-chested girl still exists. Until Himaruya finally comes out and says it we can't assume. Its only a matter of time before a word indicating gender is used, hopefully sooner rather than later so we can make him a real boy and call it a day. (Also, by the logic of "wear a dress and play hooky to prove he's a feamle" Poland would be female xD) -FH14 04:17, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

New Zealand

(Sorry if I'm doing this wrong, I'm new to the editing side of Wiki. ^^; ) Dropped by here to see what info the Wiki had on NZ and noticed the uniform info needs updating. NZ's uniform is a 19th Century British Empire uniform like the one shown here (19th Century British Empire Military Jacket). Granted it doesn't show the colours for the pants, but this picture of Himaruya's where Canada is wearing the same uniform does (Canada, 19th Century).

We actually do have that info present (-ish) on the wiki. Just not in that article. FH14 has a sandbox that contains New Zealand's (future) profile and for numerous other nations too. We're just waiting for more info before posting it as an official article for the wiki since it's really small right now. C: Icelilly 04:47, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

German States=

Should a new page be made for the German States, or at least for the ones that have a character model, such as Saxony, Hesse and perhaps Bavaria. I mean since the Prefactures have their own page now.PS(I'm new here too so hi!)--Kelcius 04:01, 23 April 2012 (EST)

Currently no. Compared to the Prefectures there hasn't been that much information given to them and some don't even have designs. However FH14 has mock-up profiles for characters like the German states in a sandbox that anyone can help out and contribute to so don't be shy to help out! Also, welcome! Just a quick FYI, Hima responded to a question about Kowloon in his most recent blog entry, saying that they "would be a very chaotic and dirty character." Should we add Kowloon to the list then? I don't have any problems with it! We have characters like Libya and Pakistan listed which were also mentioned in past Q&As so I can't see why Kowloon can't be there! Scrapped Characters

I was wondering, should characters Hima considered but decided against be included here? Like how he had plans for Castille as Spain's older sister, and plans for the Kingdom of the Franks, but scrapped those ideas. I mean, we've got entries here for characters who have only been mentioned in blog posts, so adding characters Hima mentioned he had plans for but scrapped doesn't seem like it'd be that big a stretch. I don't recall him scrapping the Kingdom of the Franks? France hasn't been shown to have been them, after all. Just because he hasn't gotten to it doesn't quite make it scrapped? Though, from what I remember, Castille was scrapped. I didn't even notice that we didn't have Kingdom of the Franks there, so they should at least be added. I suppose Castille wouldn't hurt, either? Maybe he did? But I don't really remember it. It was more like he wasn't sure if he wanted to include one or not, but we never heard about him afterwards? To be honest, it's hard to say if Himaruya scrapped a lot of these characters or if he's simply forgot about them over the years. Granted on that reason, I'll allow them to be added but I do want to see sources. Now that FH14 has gotten the source templates working properly, I would like to see them used more and more and I'd love for all of us to do our part and go back and begin adding sources to the content here; something that should of been done day 1 when the wiki was launched in '09. Tara I think it was you who said that you had no idea how to work the sourcing templates so I'll send you a message on how they work. If you don't get it, it probably means my internet died (which it has done twice while writing this reply!) or I went to bed. Keep up the good work guys! Unknown "Ancients"

The recent World Stars includes Cleopatra, who seems to be the same character as the Halloween 2013 'ancient' sketch. It's possible that the other characters fandom presumed to be ancients are actually historical characters. Any opinions on what we should do with the Ancient Egypt/Cleo pictures? Should the rest be called "Unnamed sketch" or something similar? Watermint (talk)

If I could put my input down about these pictures, right now the caption for these pictures say "probable" so if I was someone who had not read the blog I'm assuming there's no proof it's an Ancient and just purely fan conjecture. The images definitely look a lot like Cleo though. It's possible that Himaruya based Cleo's appearance off these pictures and is recycling. I would say unnamed sketch. Well look at that, Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, and now, Pontus's heads were drawn in the World Stars updates, and it seems that Cleopatra and Egypt share a similar design. Blog mentions

I've been looking through some of Himaruya's blog posts to see about any minor characters who may have been mentioned but missed on this list. I've found a few, but in most cases there's very little if any information provided. We do, however, have some characters listed here who've just been mentioned as a character Himaruya was working on or a character Himaruya wanted to make. Anyway, what I wanted to get at is, what is the minimum amount of information necessary for a character to be added to this list? Also, on a partly related note, how would I go about making redirect pages for any characters who are added? RayquazaMaster 15:53, 14 July 2015 (EDT)
