Plot Summary
Belgium and Netherlands
The episode begins with Belgium introducing herself to the viewers. She says that because she was surrounded by such distinct personalities, she appeared plain, but she was trying hard. Her place is famous for its waffles, and she wants everyone to come to her place to have real waffles. Belgium is shown eating a waffle from another country and becoming unhappy with it. She introduces the audience to her older brother Netherlands, describing him as handsome, tall, and cool. The scene them cuts to one where he refuses to sell his goods to France for a cheaper price, as Belgium admits that his only flaw was his stinginess with money.
Big Business in Codfish and Herring
Netherlands arrives at the docks, where Lithuania and Poland have secured their boat. He requests to buy more cods and herrings. After paying, Lithuania thanks him for always buying so much fish. Poland wonders why he was always this crazy about eating fish, and Netherlands advises him not to stick his nose where it doesn't belong. As Netherlands leaves, Lithuania remarks that he bought this much fish every day, and wonders if fish was a staple food for him. Poland questions whether he could eat that much fish before it went bad. In a cellar, Netherlands begins to pickle the fish he bought cheaply with salt in order to sell them for a high price. He pauses to remark that "everything revolves around money". Belgium watches in distress and says that he was blunt.
Boss Spain vs. Netherlands
During the War of Devolution, Spain is in a deserted war-torn city after being beaten up good by Netherlands. A young Romano tells him to get a grip, but Spain explains that weapons, food, and goods that they have were produced within his country and there was not nearly enough of them. Netherlands appears standing behind a wall and Romano asks him if he wants to fight. Nevertheless, Netherlands offers to sell them weapons and food. Spain exclaims that they were enemies but Netherlands explains that it did not matter. Spain and Romano are stunned by his apparent kindness, and asks why he would do this for his enemy, only to have Netherlands replying "money talks". Spain and Romano are flabbergasted and, nearby, Belgium watches in distress and says that he was blunt.
Mochi Belgium and Netherlands
In the first transition screen, Mochi Belgium and Mochi Netherlands are shown. Two of their flags appear out of each of their sides and they thrust them into the air.
Little Belgium and Netherlands
A young Netherlands is shown working a field at his home during the pioneering days. He is cultivating a rural area where the gap between the rich and poor was small due to an absence of an authority figure. One day, Belgium comes and invites him over. Upon arriving, Netherlands is stunned and amazed at the immense wealth and the expensive infrastructure and art his sister has. At the dinner table where there is an abundance of food, Belgium tells him to make himself at home and relax. Netherlands is still too stunned to respond, while Belgium asks what was wrong and if he was going to eat. In a continuation of an earlier segment, Netherlands tells France that "everything revolves around money" and still refuses to sell to him for a cheaper price, much to France's anguish. Belgium watches in distress and admits that it might be partly her fault that he turned out this way.
Mochi Belgium and Netherlands, Part 2
In the second transition screen, Mochi Belgium and Mochi Netherlands hide their flags.
Dutch Houses
Poland announces himself upon arriving outside Netherlands' house, and the latter yells for him to come in. Lithuania remarks that Netherlands' house and garden were both well-maintained. Inside, Poland exclaims that the inside was pretty too and everything was shiny, which Lithuania agrees. Netherlands explains that all he does at home was clean the house so it should be clean. In his kitchen, Poland states that he would like to cook in such a place, but Netherlands stops him from touching anything. He tells them that they would make his kitchen dirty, and that he picked up meals and brought them home. A perplexed Lithuania asks why he even had a kitchen.
