LiveJournal is a Russian-owned social networking website where users where users can keep a blog, as well as contribute to user-run communities. Beginning in 2008, the site hosted a large international fan presence for Hetalia, with several active communities updated on a near-daily basis. Beginning in 2011, the site's prominence and central role in western fandom began to be displaced by Tumblr and Twitter, and by 2014 the main Hetalia community was largely inactive.
In April 2017, following the modification of LiveJournal's terms of use to further comply with Russian law, the majority of the content in the Hetalia LiveJournal community was mirrored to Dreamwidth.
