Czechia-Liectenstein

Do you have the post where Himaruya talks about a Czechia-Liectenstein relationship? I don't recall him ever mentioning it. :/ -FH14 03:42, 5 June 2012 (EST)

I don't.  :|a Vysnia_cerasus(if they're still around?) might have it, but this post(http://hetalia.livejournal.com/9460355.html) also says it was from the '06 blog and I don't know if we still have access to those backups? I'm adding some information I found from there since I ran into that particular post while scrolling through my bookmarks. (It's weird--I got a notification for an edit here, but in the past when edits were made to pages I'm watching I never got any emails about it.  :|a But that's offtopic.) Tarafishes 03:51, 5 June 2012 (EST)

Belatedly remembered my password to this thing. Um, hi! I don't know what entry the Czechia-Liechtenstein relationship trivia came from. It's something that circulated around from Japanese fandom. Someone like Eruraito might've known, but she seems to be out of Hetalia last I checked? The old "possible characters to appear in Hetalia" 2ch threads had that information, but they didn't say what month or year. It might have been '06 or '07 though. Sorry for the inconvenience! (it's also a shame Megalodon crashed and lost some archives) Black-Noto 04:18, 12 September 2012 (EST)

Popping in to note that someone (I think its in the thread listed above) posted some of the lost archives that they had saved for personal use before the crash happened. Not sure if the info is in them or not. :/ -FH14 09:34, 12 September 2012 (EST)

I downloaded most of the logs (one link is broken though) yesterday but couldn't get half the stuff to open (but knowing my luck it's probably just me having those problems).

But not all might be lost! Over the weekend, I couldn't sleep so just for the hell of it I put the website through Archive.org. Supposedly it hasn't worked in the past but sure enough it did and I THINK I might of found a couple of the 07' logs (here: http://wayback.archive.org/web/*/http://www.geocities.co.jp/himaruya/*). I couldn't find any trivia but some of the pages are so long (like 11gatu.htm) that it could be buried somewhere in the massive walls of text. Hopefully maybe we can grab something out of this! Icelilly 03:19, 13 September 2012 (EST)

We need to change HRE's height! Himaruya said Chibitalia is 7 apples tall, then that HRE was 7 apples and a mandarin orange tall. . . .how tall is a mandarin orange? (´・ω・`)a

Anyway, I'll go on a hunt for things for a while. o/ Hopefully I'll run into things. Tarafishes 04:06, 13 September 2012 (EST)

Huh. We have access to all of the gatus(that is, they weren't deleted) except 11, and everything from I think 8-10 is gone on both sites.  ;;

Oh, I did find the page with the description of the gakuen Hetalia uniforms, though! The images are broken, but I found them on getuploader. Haha, he even talked about the popular ways for gitls to wear them. The backs of the GakuHeta girls' dresses are corset-style, so it used to be popular to wear them really tight. Now nobody really regulates it and some girls completely remove the corsety strings! Or something. The blazers and sweaters are for winter. Some of the girls get sweaters from boys, so they have much larger ones. The swearers come in three colors(black, dark brown, and white) but the skirts are always red. However, the lengths differ, and some get really short(due to lack of regulation?? Or something.) But that's just Europe Class.

. . .anyway, back to searching. o/ Tarafishes 06:05, 13 September 2012 (EST)

Scratch that, 1gatu isn't there, 12gatu(FROM 2006!?) is gone, and everything from 7-10 is missing.

Wikinet stopped working when I tried to mention it before, but there's another 2008 blog http://web.archive.org/web/20080408192746/http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/himaruya/MYBLOG/yblog.html?m=lc&p=1 the pictures are missing, though. Luxembourg first gets mentioned here, though merely than when he'll show up in correlation to the rest of the BeNeLux is far off. When I first accessed it, the format was messed up, so I didn't try and read much, but it seems to be working better now. You probably knew about this already, though.

Back to looking. Tarafishes 07:33, 13 September 2012 (EST)

Oh cool! You got it to work!! I found that link inside one of the logs but couldn't get Archive.org to open it so I never mentioned it. Ah this is exciting! I'll try to help out too. I can only use Google Translate though which I doubt will be much help. ;; Icelilly 08:57, 13 September 2012 (EST)

o; It's weird about links sometimes! Like, I tried to get to one of the gatu pages manually, and it acted like it wasn't there, but when I clicked a link it worked fine. . .but, yeah, it works! I'm done going through the archive pages--most all of them are comics and things of that nature, so I didn't find anything new.  ;; Or, er, old. That we were looking for. So maybe I'll start with that blog soon. Tarafishes 09

The way it's saved makes finding anything really troublesome. . .but I managed to look through what they had and I didn't find anything else.  ;; It was hard to find the Luxembourg bit again because it was saved from a different date and there was no way to access it besides going to that particular page on that day(I think we're missing a lot of information that way. . . .) but I managed to find it again, at least.

http://web.archive.org/web/20080205181135/http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/himaruya/MYBLOG/yblog.html?m=lc&p=3 Just ctrl+f(or your computer's equivalent) "gizmodo" and you'll be taken to the area of whitetext it's hidden in. It's the first question(so the space above the link.)

Aaand I'm going to take a nap and rest my eyes, now! XD Tarafishes 09:47, 13 September 2012 (EST)

I know what you mean! It's really weird how the pages were saved and pages 2 to 5 are completely messed up on my end that they weren't readable. I went through what I could and might have found two things though its difficult to say (though my message to you didn't go through /sobs). It probably doesn't mean much though:

  • We Minikyara Russia's and amusing.

I learned the difference between a pannier and petticoat with it. Su's car is ふ Pannier, seems petticoats pretend pretend visible from beneath. (ロシアさんとゆかいなミニキャラ達。 それとパニエとペチコートの違いを教えてもらいました。 ふくるますのがパニエで、下から見えるふりふりはペチコートらしい。) (I honestly have no clue if this is Hetalia-related but I found it on page 7; February 2, 2008. Seems to show up again on page 2 but the layout is extremely bonky. There's an image that goes with this but of course it's deleted)

  • Germany is a character that is harmful tinkering. (ドイツはいじりがいがあるキャラだ。) (Found on page 10; March 5, 2008)

Thank you so much for taking the time to go through all those links! ;o; That must of been tedious! You get some rest girl! I'll check out the link a bit later! Icelilly 14:24, 13 September 2012 (EST)

All rested up! \o/ Though, I have a stomachache from drinking milk(which I'm not supposed to do because my stomach can't handle it, but if it won't kill me I'll deal with it! We haven't tried lactose-free milk yet) so I might roll back to bed eventually, but i should be fine.

ロシアさんとゆかいなミニキャラ達。 Mr. Russia and happy mini characters. (that is, chibi drawings, of course.) それとパニエとペチコートの違いを教えてもらいました。 And I was taught the difference between a pannier and a petticoat. ふくるますのがパニエで、下から見えるふりふりはペチコートらしい。 (I'm really unsure about this sentence. I'd ask my friend, but I think she's either doing homework or sleeping.) [The first part is probably just him saying which is a pannier], it seems that the one that you can see is ruffly from underneath is a petticoat. Or something like that. /o\

ドイツはいじりがいがあるキャラだ。 (I'm not entirely certain but I think he's kind of saying "I'm tinkering with Germany's character" here?? Something like that. /o\) Tarafishes 14:51, 13 September 2012 (EST)

Aww I kind of had a feeling the stuff I found wasn't all that important. ;; Thanks for helping with the translation!

I managed to find a copy of 1gatu.htm through Megalodon and it's the only of the gatu pages they have left (http://megalodon.jp/2007-1104-2215-41/www.geocities.co.jp/himaruya/1gatu.htm). I haven't had a chance to go through it so I don't know if there's anything we can use but feel free to go through it if you like! It's quite lengthy though.

The Japanese Wikipedia is a little bit of a goldmine but the only problem is that there's no sources. Regardless, I've also been doing some digging and (most of) the human names and ages start showing up there around June 29 and June 30, 2007 (Canada's, Sealand's and Belarus' names were posted April 29, 2008). The bit on Sweden's sexuality showed up on June 13, 2007 where the word "homo" shows up in brackets near the bottom but it's later removed on July 23 (though the sentence itself still remains the same with minor changes throughout the year; I lose track of the edits around here). The human names and ages got their own section on August 7, 2007 before finally being removed on December 14, 2008 (though to be honest, the names and ages were probably LONG gone from Himaruya's blog/site by that time). I don't think it's anything we can use but it sort of gives a rough perspective of when some of these things were posted. I really wish we could find the original posts from Himaruya's website but the chances of that happening are slim to none. D: (I'm sorry I'm probably boring you to death OTL) Icelilly 12:24, 15 September 2012 (EST)

EDIT: Oh! I forgot to ask! Do you know if the old '07 profiles (like this one) are still up somewhere on the main site? I'm just curious because of sourcing reasons. Icelilly 12:29, 15 September 2012 (EST)

Well, at least there's one. I searched リヒ and I didn't find the bit about her and Czechia. Is there anything else you want me to look for? I already know to look for Sweden and I'll do that in a bit. And it isn't boring! /o/ But, yeah, I'm not sure how we'd use it, either.  ;; Unless something useful surfaces.

They're the same as the ones in Volume 1, I think. I was sourcing them to there, at least.(they just don't have the flags, and aren't in color.) But, yeah, I was just looking that up earlier today! If you go to the Hetaria page from the site, and then go to story, "characters" is still a button on that page. Click it and you'll still have access to a few, but Finland, China, Korea, and America were removed(and a few others, too, I think.) Tarafishes 12:53, 15 September 2012 (EST)

Re: Email Notifications?

I'm actually not sure to be honest. I don't get e-mail notifications because I have them turned off so my e-mail wouldn't be swamped with edits. I don't think you get e-mails for stuff like that because I don't see any options to do that sort of thing in the preferences section but I could be incorrect. I only see options for when the talk page has been changed or for minor edits.

BTW, I saw your message on Russia's talk page. I'll get to that in a bit! Sorry I'm taking so long! I'm currently swamped right now and there's been a "Code Red" at our old Wikia location. Two people sent adoption requests to the staff and now I'm in damage control. D: Icelilly 15:46, 6 July 2012 (EST)

Huh. And haha that makes sense--I just like being informed of that sort of thing since I'm pretty flighty and I might not remember to check back here. . . . I guess I was mistaking the "E-mail me also for minor edits of pages" to mean that I'd get emails for edits in general, too. (Which is strange because I don't get one for a minor edit, either. Oh well.)

It's no problem! I'm sure you're busy and gah.  ;A; I hope everything works out! Don't worry about time, you have bigger troubles!

Thanks for the response! Tarafishes 15:53, 6 July 2012 (EST)

Citation Templates

Hi there! I hope this reaches you alright!

Basically, there's two different source templates that are in use. The first one is "Cite book".

<ref>{{cite book|last=Surname of the author|first=Given name of the author|year=The year the book was published|title=Title of book|trans_title=Translated book title|publisher=Name of publishing company|page=Page number (use numerals)|isbn=ISBN code (Luckily we have ISBN codes for all the books listed on the wiki so those pages for help!)}}</ref>

The second is "Cite web".

<ref>{{cite web|title=Title of blog post (I assume most links here will be from his blog)|url=URL address|last=Surname of the author|first=Given name of the author|date=Date the post was made (NOTE: if we're using a strip as a source, use an approx. date for publishing. If you can't, skip this)|accessdate=Today's date (for sources already on the wiki, I'd prefer if used the date it was placed on wiki. You'll have to dig through the history for this but it shouldn't be hard)|trans_title=Translated title (will be needed for the strips))}}</ref>

A word of caution, the cite web template has a spot for "language" but it's really glitchy at times so I don't recommend using it. I've got it to work once but never again.

If you plan on using the same source more than one, replace "<ref>" with "<ref name="NameHere">". For example, on the human names page we use the same source multiple times. For the source I called it <ref name="HN">. When it came time to use the same source again, I simply put <ref name="HN"/>. It's that easy!

I'll have to ask FH14 if there's one we could use for the drama CDs since we'll have to do some sourcing there. I hope this made some sense because it's pretty late right now! If you need help, you know where to find me! Icelilly 15:40, 6 September 2012 (EST)

Oh, cool! Okay, I'll try and use those next time I go on a spam-information-adding spree! o/ And maybe I'll add them next time I go through something. Let's hope I don't royally mess it up! /o\ Thank you very much! It made perfect sense! Tarafishes 15:45, 6 September 2012 (EST)
