Mochi
In the Hetalia universe, mochi (also known as "Blobs") are strange, sentient creatures that resemble the nations in both appearance and sometimes personality. They are based on the Japanese rice cake of the same name. Mochi nations are usually portrayed as white, round, and flexible. They can change shape and sprout appendages and miniature flags from their bodies.
The mochi were introduced in a series of side strips. Estonia encounters America mochi, who acts strangely and speaks in short English sentences, and proceeds to become his caretaker. Shortly thereafter, several other mochi nations appear. Mochi do not normally appear in main installments of Hetalia and are primarily used in spin-off mochi strips. America mochi has made short appearances at Christmas and Halloween events, usually accompanied by Estonia. The mochi also act as mascots for Himaruya's Kitayume website and are featured in short segments in Hetalia: The Beautiful World episodes.

Mochi
America
Mochi America is the first mochi to be introduced. He is depicted with blue eyes and lines resembling glasses, and is capable of sprouting hands, legs, wings, and mechanical arms. Mochi America possesses shape-shifting abilities, at one point growing four legs and enlarging so that Estonia could ride him. He is the third hardest of the mochi. Like his nation self, Mochi America enjoys unhealthy foods such as chocolate syrup and, if neglected, will become obese. He can be easily befriended through food offerings. He is compulsive, hyper, and random, and has had troubles with the police. Mochi America speaks in short English sentences and fragments. Often, he will respond to others with "It's Okay, I'm an America," regardless of the situation. He insults Estonia and the other mochi nations, referring to Mochi Italy as a pig and Mochi Canada as hairy. He is described as crazy but with no malice. Twice, he purports that \lettuce is his father. In one instance, he consumes a lettuce leaf, but is not perturbed to learn it is his father. In another scenario, Mochi America believes a head of lettuce to be capable of speech, that it is his father, and that together they will destroy the world. Much to Mochi America's dismay, Mochi Canada eats it.
Belarus
According to Himaruya, Mochi Belarus' body has have pieces of meat stuck to it.
Cameroon
Mochi Cameroon is a mochi who loves football, but hates the football ball.
Canada
Mochi Canada is the third mochi to be introduced. He is purchased online for for $1.50. Mochi Canada has large blue eyes, lines under his eyes similar to glasses, and a large hair curl. He is the second softest mochi and carries a bag in the shape of a polar bear. Like his human counterpart, he is shy, but hysteric. When mentioned that he looks similar to Mochi America, he became greatly upset, cries, and declares himself Canadian. Mochi America is shown to occasionally forget about him. Mochi Canada enjoys maple syrup with pancakes. He apparently disappears easily, so Estonia decides not to take him to America's Halloween party. According to Himaruya, Mochi Canada will someday save the world.
England
Mochi England is the fourth mochi to be introduced. He is brought to Estonia by his owner, an old English gentleman, to meet his fellow mochi. He is a snobby, spoiled, and "tsundere" blob. He has England's thick eyebrows and a small top hat. While Estonia found him extremely clean, his owner claims he was a hooligan. He is constantly annoyed and mocked by Mochi America. He is the fifth softest of the mochi.
France
Mochi France appears to have the facial appearance of his human counterpart and and a love for beauty.
Italy
Mochi Italy is the second mochi to appear. Estonia purhcased him online for $2 so that Mochi America would not be lonely. He has squinty eyes with a "ω" shaped mouth and an Italian hair curl. He is the softest of the mochi. Hee is slow-moving, easygoing and friendly, and more exquisite with food. Like his counterpart, he is quite cowardly and often stays near Mochi Germany. He he also seems to have talent for prestidigitation. Estonia considered taking Mochi Italy to America's Halloween party, but chose not to out of fear he would be squished.
Japan
Mochi Japan is, instead of a regular mochi, a Sakuramochi. He is pinkish in colour with a Sakura pattern in his side and has dull black eyes. He also carries a katana with him. He is described as quiet, modest, traditional, mysterious, and able to read the situation. He often brings different sweets with him. He is a bit self-denigrating and has no head for pushy attitudes. Mochi Japan has not appeared in the comics so far, but he has been shown in a blog post, apparently showing a cannibalistic appetite towards Mochi America (since mochi are Japanese food, and being Japanese himself, he finds them edible). After Canada Mochi, he is the softest, making him the third softest mochi.
Germany
Instead of being soft and round like the regular mochi, Mochi Germany is depicted as hard and in cube shaped. He appears very solid and heavy, as Estonia was concerned the mochi would break his leg. Due to his shape, there is nowhere to grab onto him and so he is difficult to pick up and impossible to stretch, unlike the other mochi. Like his counterpart, he is intimidating, stern, and somewhat shy. He considers Mochi Italy, his only close friend, to be annoying and is surprised by his softness. In a blog post, Himaruya admitted that Mochi Germany would lose a fight with Mochi Italy just for the sake of allowing him to win, as he would not be able to win otherwise. Mochi Germany can only move in a straight line at a uniform speed.
Liechtenstein
Mochi Liechtenstein lives in the alternate universe mochi world. She appears as small mochi with large eyes and a ribbon on her side. She has the ability to create stamps out of nothing. Estonia found her cute and wanted to take her home, but he was stopped by her brother, Mochi Switzerland. Himaruya also stated that he found her cute.
Switzerland
Mochi Switzerland lives in the alternate universe mochi world with his sister Mochi Liechtenstein. When Estona declares his intent to bring Mochi Liechtenstein to his world, Mochi Switzerland stared at him, defending his sister.
Spain
In the alternate mochi world, Estonia found Mochi Spain and gave him a tomato he had in his pocket, making him very happy. He is depicted as a simple mochi with squinting eyes and a smiling mouth. He usually has a tomato on his side and will become angry if it is removed. Estonia chose to take Mochi Spain with him to his world over Mochi Estonia, despite Mochi America's suggestion. Estonia became upset for being compared to Mochi Estonia, and Mochi Spain comforted him, leading to Estonia's decision. Mochi Spain does not appear to get along well with Mochi America, who steps on him upon meeting him. Mochi Spain can become angry but forgets his anger as soon as he has slept. It is apparently dangerous to give him alcohol.
Estonia
Mochi Estonia lives in the alternate universe mochi world. When encountered, Estonia—despite being told so by Mochi America—could not believe that they were very similar and became very upset. America Mochi suggests that Estonia keep his mochi counterpart, but Estonia refused. Mochi Estonia has small glasses, no visible eyes, and has a small PC laptop. He is said to make even more money than whoever owns him and to be a real go-getter. He can manage to get magically quickly out of the financial crisis.
Russia
Mochi Russia is a cold mochi who lives in Moscow. He has squinting eyes, a prominent nose, and he wears a scarf. He seems to share Russia's trait of innocently enjoying torturing others, as he does with Mochi America; moreover, he is rancorous. However, he also seems to have a friendly side. Mochi Russia supposedly loves Mochi America so much that could tear him apart. After torturing him, he flung a heart at Mochi America which seemed to brainwash him into loving him, which made him very happy. He is the second hardest Mochi.
China
Mochi China's appearance is pixelated due to his copyright-infringing appearance that would anger American companies. It is said that he can sell wondrous goods. If his companion is older, he leeches off of him, but if the companion is younger, he might treat him.
