Netherlands/Canada is a slash pairing in Hetalia: Axis Powers, involving the characters Netherlands and Canada. It is commonly known as NedCan after their countries' names in their native tongues (Nederland in Dutch and Canada in English and French respectively). It is known as Tulip festival (チューリップ祭) in the Japanese fandom; named after the Canadian Tulip Festival held annually in Ottawa.

Fan Speculations

Although the two have not interacted significantly in canon, they have a strong historical and political friendship established during World War II. During World War II, the Canadian government housed some members the Dutch royal family during the German occupation of the Netherlands as well Canadian soldiers being the main force to liberate and provide aid for the country at the end of the war.

In most fanworks, Netherlands is often shown or mentioned giving Canada a bouquet of tulips as a gesture of friendship or a declaration of love in reference to the annual gift of tulips sent to Ottawa. Other fanworks are sometimes set during the Second World War where Canada is providing food and aid to Netherlands. It is agreed by many fans that this incident is the starting point for their relationship; paving the way for a romantic relationship in modern times.
