Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (北キプロス・トルコ共和国, Kita Kipurosu Toruko Kyōwakoku), often referred to as TRNC or Northern Cyprus, is a supporting character in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers.

Attributes
Appearance
A Mediterranean character, he appears to be a small child and is the younger brother of Cyprus, though his clothing imitates Turkey. His only color appearance to date is in the Hetalia Trading Card game, where he is depicted with olive skin and brown eyes. In Axis Powers Hetalia: The CD, it is mentioned that TRNC can't grow up due to not being recognized as a country by anyone except for Turkey.

Personality and Interests
TRNC speaks in a monotone voice and is noticeably more stern and quiet than his older brother. His style of dress imitates Turkey, the only one that will recognize him as a legitimate nation. Despite this, he is proud of being recognized by Turkey and is a rival of sorts to Sealand because of this (as Sealand is not recognized as a nation by anyone but himself).

In the drama CD, he proposes the idea of reunification to Cyprus, but both are interrupted by another one of Greece and Turkey's fights before there can be a definitive answer. Despite Cyprus's close relationship with Greece, TRNC tries to convince him that Turkey is nice, and doesn't forgive anyone who is mean to him.

Relationships
Cyprus
Main Article: Cyprus

The immediate relationship of the two Cypriot brothers is not thoroughly explored. Although the present day Greek Cypriot hostility towards TRNC in the audio drama is solely depicted by Greece alone and not Cyprus himself, TRNC on the contrary seems to reflect all the ideals and beliefs of Turkey. In turn, TRNC's hostility towards Greece alone and not his adult counterpart, as well as Cyprus' expressed desire for Turkey and Greece to get along, suggests that both Cypriot brothers may not harbor any real hatred for one another.

Greece
Main Article: Greece

Greece openly hates TRNC, and threatens to disown Cyprus unless he cuts off all communications with him. Likewise, TRNC dislikes Greece for getting into fights with Turkey, and will often try to aid Turkey against him.

Sealand
Main Article: Sealand

Sealand attempts to make friends with TRNC and claims they are both micronations, but TRNC reminds Sealand that while he is recognized by Turkey, Sealand is recognized by no one (not even by England or Sweden). Sealand begins to cry, and he later attacks TRNC in a fit of rage, causing a fight between Greece and Turkey to reignite nearby.

Turkey
Main Article: Turkey

Turkey is the only country to recognize TRNC as a country, and TRNC admires him as a result. TRNC calls Turkey "gentle" and won't forgive anyone who is mean to him. Whenever Greece and Turkey get into a fight, TRNC wants nothing more than to help Turkey.

Appearances
Manga
TRNC's designed was first revealed in the Hetalia trading card game. Since then, he has appeared once on Himaruya's blog, watching the micronations from afar, and in a small sketch with the volume 4 online extras. Himaruya thought about including TRNC and Cyprus in the Halloween 2011 event, but opted against it, as both were male and the remaining spot in Turkey's group was for a princess.

Drama CD
TRNC first appeared in the independent drama CD Axis Powers Hetalia: The CD. In The Flag of Cyprus segment, he and Turkey approach Cyprus about coming to live with him, in hopes that it might cause TRNC to grow. Greece vehemently disagrees with Cyprus communicating with TRNC. The track ends with Cyprus and TRNC never coming to a resolution after Greece, Turkey, TRNC, and Sealand all break out into fights.

Trivia
*Despite being compared with Sealand, TRNC is a de facto state, not a micronation
*TRNC follows the pattern established by characters such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Cyprus as his appearance in a drama CD predates any manga or anime appearances.
*In fandom, TRNC is often misidentified as Cyprus itself, as Cyprus had yet to receive a character design prior to the release of volume 4. Also in fandom, it's common to find TRNC misidentified as Egypt as their character designs appear to look vaguely similar to some fans.
*TRNC made his very first comic panel debut in one of the four-panel comics (concerning coffee) released during the 2011 Christmas event. However his sketch in the last frame was so small and crushed off to the right side, it is debatable whether or not this appearance counts as a panel debut.
*Contrary to fan speculation, both Cyprus and TRNC do not share the unique hair curl of Greece and Turkey. This could be due to the island's historical exposure to the other cultural influences of neighboring countries, such as Egypt.

Cyprus (キプロス, Kipurosu) is a supporting character in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers.

Appearance
Cyprus has shaggy hair which is notably longer on his right side (left from the audience perspective), seemingly referring to the the peninsula on the northeast part of the island. The subtle curl in the center of his forehead seems to have waned since his earlier designs. His official color scheme has yet to be released, but his eyes and hair appears dark. A rough chibi sketch depicts him wearing a baggy t-shirt, pants and earring accessory.

Personality and Interests
Three years prior to his manga debut, his only appearance is on the drama CD "Axis Powers Hetalia: The CD" in the track The Flag of Cyprus. In that track, he is shown to be a very expressive and polite young man, and is very much a peace-lover. A Mediterranean nation who was once under the control of England, he is now fought over by both Greece and Turkey, though he hopes that they will be able to reach a resolution and get along one day. Despite the fact that his younger brother, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, wants to break away and become his own country, Cyprus still engages in dialogue with him, much to the annoyance of Greece. His appearance in volume 4 seems to indicate that Greece and Turkey's rivalries is one thing that will frequently make him break his peaceful manner and become agitated.

He is a bed-wetter, and apparently pees in the shape of the Cyprus island. Character notes reveal that he is cool, composed, and easy-going, but is "quite busy" due to Turkey and Greece's arguing. During the Christmas 2011 event, he reveals that he loves the special atmosphere of the holiday and states that he is inexplicably in a cheerful mood.

Relationships
Greece
Main Article: Greece

Cyprus is close with Greece, and it is mentioned that he was raised by Greece's mother. As a result, Greece will get into fights with Turkey over matters involving TRNC, which annoys Cyprus, who encourages Greece to try and get along with Turkey.

Turkey
Main Article: Turkey

While it has been mentioned that Turkey changed Cyprus's diapers growing up, Cyprus doesn't really know how to deal with Turkey, to the point where he'll ask TRNC to "take the old man away". Turkey wants Cyprus to come live with him and TRNC, in hopes that this will help TRNC grow up.

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
Although TRNC seems to reflect all the ideals and beliefs of Turkey, the present Greek Cypriot hostility towards TRNC in the audio drama on the contrary is solely depicted by Greece alone and not Cyprus himself. ==Appearances==
Manga
Cyprus appears in Turkey&! asking Greece why he can't find a way to get along with Turkey. After pressing the issue, Cyprus asks if there's ever been a time they've had fun together, and is surprised to learn that they once had fun in a bathhouse together.

Drama CD
Cyprus first appeared in the independent drama CD Axis Powers Hetalia: The CD. In The Flag of Cyprus segment, he raises his flag and after having a conversation with one of his citizens, and old woman, about it, he is approached by Turkey who asks him to leave Greece and come live with him and TRNC. Greece and Turkey begin fighting over Cyprus, escalating to the point where Cyprus snaps and yells at them, explaining that he doesn't belong to either of them and that his flag was made in hopes that there would be peace between the Greeks and Turks some day. They momentarily stop fighting but Sealand reignites the scuffle and Cyprus calls them idiots and leaves.

Trivia
*Cyprus follows the pattern established by characters such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as his appearance in a drama CD predates any manga or anime appearances. However, aside from a single blog chibi sketch, he was the only one who didn't receive an official character design until his volume 4 appearance.
*Although Cyprus wasn't featured in any of the comic panels, during the 2011 Halloween event Himaruya posted on his blog a concept sketch of his potential costume (holding a magic carpet) with a severely different hairstyle design. Currently there is no explanation as to why this change was made, but it was proven to be temporary as he was drawn normally in the 2011-12 Christmas Event shortly after.
*His canon bed-wetting habit as well as his peeing in the shape of his island are both jokes inspired by the design of the Cypriot flag, as it features a graphic of the island in yellow, isolated on white. Although historically yellow was selected to represent the name of the country, which is derived from the word "Copper" in Greek, the gag suggests that it resembles a pee stain.
*Contrary to fan speculation, both Cyprus and TRNC do not share the unique hair curl of Greece and Turkey. This could be due to the island's historical exposure to the other cultural influences of neighboring countries, such as Egypt.
