Canada (カナダ, Kanada) is a supporting character in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers. In 2008, Himaruya gave out human names to some of the characters and he received the name Matthew Williams (マシュー・ウィリアムズ, Mashyū Uiriamuzu)

Attributes
Appearance
His hair is wavy, and depicted at times as being two-toned; a lighter blond on top, with more of an orange (or darker blond) shade on the bottom and tips. He has violet eyes, though they have also been colored blue in some of the official art featuring him. At least one figurine depicts him with completely orange hair. He also sports a curly ahoge off the top of his head.

Canada wears a heavy tan winter coat and pants as his military uniform, though when he is dressed casual, he is usually shown wearing a hoodie (sometimes depicted with the Canadian flag emblem on it), and a pair of jeans. Like his brother, Canada wears glasses, though he also sports a pair of goggles on his head at times (such as when wearing his uniform).

Although often drawn as shorter in fanart, official art makes it clear that he is either the same height/build as his brother, or very close to it.

Personality and Interests
In contrast to his brother, Canada is calm, shy, sensitive, and hates fighting. Despite this, he is often mistaken for his brother and has found himself in trouble for incidents that America has caused. When he is not being mistaken for his brother, all the other nations tend to forget that he exists. He is also passive aggressive and was once able to make America cry by arguing with him for over three hours and pointing out every single one of his faults. It is also implied in a chapter he loves maple syrup as he is shown offering America some for his coffee.

He also has a pet bear named Kumajirou, who, unfortunately, always forgets Canada's name. In return, Canada always forgets Kumajirou's name as well.

Relationships
America
Main Article: America

The two brothers grew up separately as children, until England eventually took Canada on a trip to meet America, who wound up becoming bored with him and forgetting him shortly into their first meeting.

In their adulthood, America is the source of his constant troubles, due to the fact that people get their identities mixed up and he gets blamed for fights that America started or is spoken to as America. However, during an argument, Canada was able to reduce him to tears when he went on a 3-hour rant about all of his flaws. Despite this, the two seem to have a healthy relationship, as their arguing and America's frequent forgetting of him can merely come off as sibling rivalry. America tends to visit his house on occasion and is seen to be the one Canada spends the most time with.

Cuba
Main Article: Cuba

Cuba initially mistook Canada for America and attacked him. He later apologized with a peace offering of ice cream and an invite to his place. When Canada arrived, however, Cuba once again mistook him for his brother.
During the Christmas 2010 event, Cuba was the one to call Canada, warning him of the disappearance of countries and suggesting that they stick together. Later on Canada, instead of searching for the missing nations, decides to take pictures of himself with Cuba and Kumajirou in silly positions. The two get along well, though Cuba still confuses Canada with America.

Appearances
Anime
Canada and Kumajirou appear in Episode 19, at an Allied Forces meeting. But due to his "invisibility effect", the other Allies do not realize that he's there with them.

His design was slightly altered for the anime, with his violet eyes changed to a blue, and the gradient effect of his hair removed. His hair is drawn slightly shorter and straighter as well. Both Canada's hair and eyes are a darker shade than his brother's. His casual hoodie, often assumed to be red (though colored light green in one official picture), is also colored teal.

He is voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi, who also voices America in the anime. In an interview with PASH magazine, Konishi said that he played Canada's voice as very quiet and "barely above a whisper", in contrast to the louder brother. His English voice actor, Eric Vale, also voices America and plays Canada's voice in much the same way.

Trivia
*His birthday, July 1st, corresponds to the national holiday of Canada Day, when Canada first became independent on July 1st, 1867, though full independence was not gained until August 1982.
*It is a source of debate among fans as to whether it is America or Canada that is the older of the two brothers (with Hidekaz Himaruya having not confirmed a set age difference between the two). A common fanon assumption is that the two are twins, due to their similarities and the fact that Canada is easily mistaken for America (due to having the same face), though the two do not share the same day of birth. Supporters of this theory point out the nations' birthdays merely refer to their date of independence or unification, and that a "nation" may not have an official birthday in the same sense as humans.
*Canada is one of the Allied Forces during the second world war which would bring the total of Allied powers in the story to six, is the third strongest western power, and contributed a lot in the war, but being under so much British influence much of Canada's efforts were considered British efforts, which can be considered a contribution to Canada's invisibility. This could also explain why Canada is not often seen amongst the others when the Allies are acting together.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Paint it, White

2012-01-04T21:51:32Z

69.116.42.249: /* Episode Recaps Present in the Film */

Hetalia: Axis Powers - The Movie: Paint it, White (Ginmaku Hetalia - Axis Powers: Paint it, White, literally Hetalia - Axis Powers on the Silver Screen: Paint it, White) is the first feature-length film adaptation of Hetalia: Axis Powers, released on June 5th, 2010. The film marks the first animated appearance of Iceland.

The movie involves a mysterious force causing unusual incidents to happen all over the world, and the nations having to try to ward off the threat of human extinction from the alien race known as Pict, who seek to transform mankind and drain the color from the world (with America deciding that the world will be saved under his command). Recaps of the Hetalia anime series are interspersed throughout the film, showcasing different segments.

Plot Summary
Iceland, who has been trying to get more tourists to help out his economy, notices a strange green mist in the atmosphere. Elsewhere, a woman is being chased through the streets by a mass of strange white blob-like aliens, who capture her and change her into one of their own.

At the world meeting, the World 8 (consisting of the former members of the Axis Powers and Allied Forces) try to figure out a way to solve the situation, but wind up only arguing with each other and causing Germany to call the meeting off. Italy is left alone, unaware that Canada had also attended the meeting and is there with him.

Prussia holds a talent show, though it is quickly called off due to the threat. Belarus and Ukraine attempt to search for their brother in the middle of the chaos. Although the nations attempt to ward off the aliens in their own ways, the blob aliens manage to succeed in draining the color of various cities and transforming them and the people into white blobs. South Italy stands in the middle of a converted city, only to be quickly transformed into one of the aliens. Poland finds that his pony has transformed, but becomes attacked and converted as well. Finland, dressed as a Santa, wonders when Christmas will come, but winds up converted. Finally, a tired Greece is sitting out in archaeological ruins with his cats, and becomes converted. However, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are unaffected by the attacks due to their barrier of "permanent neutrality" and manage to evade the disaster when the barrier repels the UFOs.

Though Tony is first suspected of being the cause, the World 8 discover that the aliens (known as the Pict) originated from a dying white star and have come to Earth looking for things to drain color and happiness from and to turn others into their race. A commercial break featuring Spain appears briefly, to advertise his coffee and "Shut up" shirt. Before Tony can explain things further, the Pict convert him into a blob creature, leaving the World 8 to have to figure out a solution on their own. Elsewhere, Canada and Cuba attempt to help out humans that have been halfway converted into Pict.

The eight nations then discover a spaceship and attempt to sneak on board amidst the converted Earth population, Italy suggesting that they disguise themselves as Pict (in baggy white unitards). America declares that he'll be the one to lead them, but this idea is shot down by Germany, who orders them to split up. France and England are forced to pair up, but wind up becoming caught quickly due to their arguments, especially after seeing what the Pict think of their relationship. America, Russia, and China find a control room, but wind up triggering an alarm and become ambushed by the aliens. Germany, Italy, and Japan attempt to sneak through the air vents in the spaceship, but a cat that Italy brought along in his suit attacks Germany and the three fall through the vent and fail as well. Back in Europe, Switzerland and Liechtenstein calm themselves by holding a picnic.

In an attempt to ward the Pict off and bring them happiness, Japan suggests that the nations show them hospitality. The nations decides to showcase their special talents:
*China and France show the aliens their food (which the Pict only find "odd")
*Russia shows them the art of ballet, having dressed the Baltic Trio up as ballerinas (but the Pict only find it "odd")
*Germany gives the Pict beer, but winds up demonstrating it too stiffly
*America offers the Pict gambling and they seem to approve of it, though they find it "odd" as well
*Japan demonstrates the Bon festival, which the Pict also seem to approve of (despite saying that it is "odd")

England then decides to give the Pict souvenirs of his scones, but they become disgusted by the taste and attack the nations. The eight bail from the ship and wind up falling into a vast ocean. Elsewhere, Austria complains to Hungary about the type of music he has to compose.

Germany finds himself lost in a jungle on a deserted island, having washed up on a beach. He wonders if the other seven are alright, but a faint light catches his eye. He finds Italy by a campfire, and the World 8 manage to reunite. Sealand then appears, having engineered his entire platform to move across the ocean. He thinks to himself that he'll be able to use this opportunity to get the others to acknowledge him. Back in Europe, Switzerland and Liechtenstein continue to have peace.

The World 8 eat by the campfire and try to figure out a strategy to defeat the Pict, but are quickly discovered by them. Sealand tries to fight off the Pict with cannons on his platform, though they overtake him and transform him. The Pict show the nations the transformed landmarks of the world in an attempt to depress them further. Germany tries to get Italy to smile, as his smiling had made the Picts hesitate earlier, though Italy finds himself too scared to do so. In a brief interlude, Holy Roman Empire and Chibitalia are shown by a river, repeating each others' names over and over.

The World 8 then decide to fight off the Pict (with the exception of Italy, who runs away to hide in some bushes) and become engaged in a very physical battle. The nations become overwhelmed by the Pict though, and China is the first to fall and become transformed. One by one, the nations are transformed into Pict (although still retaining other physical features such as hair), until Germany is left fighting. He too eventually gets transformed, however, leaving Italy as the survivor and frightened at being the last one.

Suddenly, as the Pict corner Italy, Ancient Rome rises from the sea, decked out in visual kei makeup, to sing a song (previously heard in Episode 18) about "Heaven and Hell on Earth", using the transformed landmarks of the world as his stage backdrops. The Pict become baffled by the bizarre event, giving Italy his chance to "attack" them in his own way: Having found a felt-tip marker that was dropped by his grandpa, he proceeds to draw strange faces all over the Pict and his transformed allies, causing them to laugh and find happiness.

The happiness of the Pict cause the transformed nations on the island to revert to their human forms, and a strange faceless girl known as the Pict Princess appears to apologize for the destruction caused. She asks for Italy's marker (as such an object never existed in her world to create laughter) and thanks the group for showing her the meaning of happiness. The Pict Princess departs with her race in the spaceship, assuring the nations that she'll return the Earth to normal. The landmarks proceed to vanish. Meanwhile back in Europe, Liechtenstein thanks Switzerland for the wonderful time that they managed to have.

The next morning, the World 8 wonder how they'll be able to leave the island and blame each other for being stuck. Sealand decides that he'll give the others a ride home, figuring that they'll recognize him this way. Japan then suggests that they all simply do Bon dancing. A footnote reads that they returned home by using the route that China uses for food.

Ending Sequence
Theatrical Version
Wa! Wa! World Ondo plays as a group of Pict aliens dance. "Chibi" heads of various characters float in the background and clips from the movie play on a screen. In the final shot, a chibi version of Italy poses with his two white flags.

DVD Version
The Pict aliens dance to Wa! Wa! World Ondo. In the background, various nations and other characters (including Janice) do the dance movements at different points and scenes in the film. In the final shot, the nations that appeared in the film all appear in kimonos and in chibi form, along with Tony, one of Greece's cats, Poland's pony (on which Holy Roman Empire and Chibitalia are seated), and Kumajirou.

Post-Credits Teaser
Iceland has managed to get several tourists and wonders why everyone else in the world was despairing over the chaos, as the strange aurora that appeared made his house into a big tourist destination. The chorus of children states that it's "The End".

Trivia
*Though Prussia appeared in several early promotional materials for the film and was hyped as the Ambassador character for it, he only appears briefly in one scene early on and presumably winds up attacked and transformed by the Pict like most of the other nations.
*Curiously, the woman at the very beginning of the film first running from the Pict seems to greatly resemble a female America, from the short bangs, the same hair and eye color, and an ahoge in a similar place. It seems this was merely coincidence, however, as her hair is much longer, style of dress is different, and her portion was shown to take place in Germany.
*At least 70 percent of the movie is the actual original story involving the Pict, while the other 30 percent of the runtime consists of the recaps of the anime series spliced inbetween various scenes. This move proved to be controversial due to the recycling of footage and the discrepancies between the animation quality, along with the recycling of the island setting for the film's climax. As a result, two versions of the film are included on the DVD, a "Complete" version that retains the recaps, and a "Skip Play" version that only showcases the movie footage.
*The ending credits sequence was also slightly changed in the DVD release, though the original ending is still available in the special features.

Osaka (大阪, Ōsaka) is a supporting character in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers. He represents both the Osaka Domain during the Japanese feudal era and the present-day Osaka Prefecture. His character and appearance are largely based off the character Tsukomi Hoke from Barjona Bombers, another comic by Hidekaz Himaruya.

Attributes
Appearance
In the feudal era, he is depicted with long dark hair that he has tied up into a short ponytail towards the top of the back of his head. He wears a dark blue yukata with a green collar. His hair is changed to a lighter shade in later appearances. In the present day, his hair is shorter and he wears modern clothing such as sweater-vest and khakis or a hoodie. His design, especially the present day, is heavily based off of Tsukomi Hoke, who acts as a representative for Osaka Prefecture in his respective series, though the two are separate characters.

He is said to have good business sense and an intense pickiness about food. He is known as "The World's Kitchen" due to this love of food. He doesn't worry to much about what his boss says and as a result, he is very friendly with his peers. Despite this, he appears wary around foreign nations such as America and Netherlands and will often encourage Japan to send them away, and at one point asking Japan to hit America after the latter makes a series of heavy demands. As stated by his character notes, he wasn't a han for long, and soon became a shogunate controlled fief under the Bakufu government.

Relationships
Japan
:Main Article: Japan
Osaka acts in the capacity of an assistant to Japan, and has been shown to act as a mouthpiece for Japan during his isolation. Osaka encourages Japan to be more forceful with his diplomatic relations and not let America walk all over him, though Japan ultimately was unable to do so. In the present day, Osaka went to go find Japan upon hearing that countries have begun to go missing, and tries to help when Japan is subsequently attacked.

Appearances
Manga
Osaka first appears in Black Ships Have Come!, acting as an interpreter between Japan and America. Osaka and Japan try to strategize a way to get America to leave, and go seek advice from Emperor. When America makes a series of demands, Osaka urges Japan to punch him, but he is unable to and agrees to America's conditions. Osaka later appears in the notes of The World of War and the Fool of Owari, and turns up again in Netherlands and Isolationist Japan where he tells Netherlands to leave as Japan is not feeling well. However, Netherlands give him a tulip and convinces Osaka to let him in. Osaka later goes inside to see Netherlands trying to wrestle Japan out of a blanket cocoon.

Osaka appears in the present day during the Christmas 2010 event, where he is shown watching the news of the nation disappearances. Worried, he goes to Japan's house to check on him and finds him fighting a Parallel France. After Japan is wrestled to the ground, Osaka begins hitting with with a poster sword to not much effect. Later on, Osaka and the Parallel France are seen checking Japan over for markings with no success, and the next morning Osaka spots Japan training to brush up on his fighting skills.

Anime
Osaka made his anime debut in Episode 98, which adapts Black Ships Have Come!. In this version of the story, Osaka and Japan do not seek advice from the Emperor, and instead they distract America with tea he's unfamiliar with while they come up with a plan to get him to leave. As in the manga storyline, despite Osaka's hostility, Japan reluctantly agrees to all of America's demands.

He retains his original manga appearance and has black hair tied into a ponytail and wears a dark blue yukata with a green collar. While he was depicted with his eyes open in other appearances, he keeps his eyes closed like in the original "Black Ships" story.

Trivia
*Osaka remains the only region of Japan to appear in both the designs for the feudal domains and the modern prefectures.

Picardy (ピカルディ, Pikarudi) is a supporting character in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers. He first appeared as the main character in the unfinished mini-game "April Fools Aftermath", and has since appeared briefly in the actual manga. It is unclear whether or not he is truly intended to represent the region of France, as he tells France that it isn't his name, which is first shown to be Shujinko (主人公, Shujinkō), a generic placeholder name meaning "hero."

Attributes
Appearance
Picardy has short brown hair and is normally depicted wearing fake cat ears similar to the ones sometimes worn by France. His height his unknown, though he appears shorter than France in a sketch, and is shown to wear a plain white button down shirt. He bears a strong resemblance to the lead character Seiji Chiga in Himaruya's later series Chibisan Date. His bangs are noticeably longer when he later appears in one of the April Fools 2011 strips.

Personality and Interests
Picardy is described as a young man who is honest and hardworking, though he has an average income and stamina. He is shown to be devoted, as he comes to France's house in the middle of the night after he becomes injured. Despite this, he doesn't appear very patient, and becomes annoyed when France tries to move on his own to tell him a story instead of resting. When on assignment from France, he is shown to not be above deceit, as he is shown in a sketch lying to Hungary about his true identity and intentions.

Relationships
France
:Main Article: France
Picardy came to France's aid after receiving a call in the middle of the night, though he is shown to be visibly annoyed by it. When France begins to try and make the situation poetic, Picardy chastises him, and openly tells him to be quiet and rest. However, when France snaps at him, he meekly backs down. France assigns him to take over his April Fools Day duties, and gives him his trademark cat ears. In a sketch posted on Bamboo Thicket, Picardy is shown posing enthusiastically next to France.

Appearances
Manga
Picardy appeared in some concept panels for the Aftermath game, where Hungary is asking him what he is doing and a number of possible lies to tell her are shown. Picardy makes his official debut during the April Fools 2011 event, where it is revealed that he had assisted France in getting embarrassing photos of the other nations.

Games
Picardy appears as the player character in the incomplete demo of April Fools Aftermath. He arrives to take care of France, whom he argues with regarding the later's hobbies during the holiday. France later assigns Picardy the task of creating mischief in his place, and gives him a pair of cat ears to wear. The demo ends as Picardy reluctantly sets off on his mission under the light of the full moon.

Lithuania (リトアニア Ritoania) is a supporting character in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers. In 2008, Himaruya gave out human names to some of the characters and he received the name Toris Laurinaitis (トーリス・ロリナイティス Tōrisu Rorinaitisu).

Attributes
Appearance
He has shoulder-length brown hair and green eyes (blue in the anime). In his WWII appearances, he wears a green military uniform with tall boots (or simple shoes, depending on the reference image). Lithuania sometimes wears his hair tied back into a ponytail, such as when he worked as a housekeeper or when he was younger.

In the strip While You Were Gone, Lithuania is shown to have deep scars covering his back.

Personality and Interests
The eldest of the three Baltics, Lithuania controlled Middle and Eastern Europe during the Middle Ages, and was a formidable nation that once beat Prussia, until he was taken by Russia. Though he managed to get away for a time, he always wound up back under his control. After the Soviet Union fell, he fully regained his independence and went to rehabilitate with Poland.

He is a bit of a serious introvert, winds up being easy to take advantage of, and is the type who will welcome one into his heart once he knows the person. He also tends to depress himself so much that he gets a stomachache, and generally has a weak stomach. Lithuania is also said to be interested in martial arts and literature, and drives a second-hand car.

In a rare strip, it is shown that the other two Baltics think highly of him, but resent that he ignores them in favor of spending time with Poland. In the character identification chart, it was said that there's no mistaking him if Russia or Poland are pushing him around.

Relationships
America
Main Article: America

After becoming poor due to the fallout of WWI, Lithuania lived with America for a brief period of time and worked for him as his housekeeper. He proclaimed it was 'heaven' and was fond of America. He was well received by America's whale friend and Tony, who often beamed him up into his spaceship out of jealousy when Lithuania paid attention to the whale.

After the Great Depression hit and poverty spread throughout the nations, Lithuania had to return to Russia. In a more present-day strip, Lithuania returned to America's house to celebrate his birthday.

Belarus
Main Article: Belarus

Lithuania holds a crush on Russia's younger sister since childhood though it isn't returned, for she only has eyes for her brother and harbors hatred for Lithuania. When he finally succeeded in going on a date with her for three minutes, it ended with her breaking all of his fingers though he continued to remain oblivious to her harsh nature and simply stated that his fingers were broken because he could bend them like that.

Some fans implied that Belarus's hated him because he's her brother's favorite but it's revealed in a deleted version of the Comic Diary 11 that she has been hurting him since they were kids and before he became Russia's subordinate (having a young Belarus strangling Lithuania as a terrified young Poland stares at them and another in which she breaks his leg) with Lithuania not acknowledging it or thinking little of it as well. It's implied that Belarus's hatred for him comes from the real-life history fact between the two countries from Lithuania's annexation of Belarus and due to this, she was separated from her brother for a long time, during the Grand Duchy of Lithuania era.

Curiously in the Halloween 2011 event, she seem to be more civil with him and he is shown to be shocked to see her badmouthing Denmark.

Poland
Main Article: Poland

The two have been rather close friends, though Poland can be self-centered (as shown in the earlier strips where their relationship seemed to be more one-sided). However, their relationship is much less one-sided over the years than it was in initial strips. They were partners in the days of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, before Russia split them apart and took Lithuania under his control. When they managed to meet up again, Poland attempted to play a prank on Lithuania with a water gun but wound up discovering the scars on his back.

Poland refers to Lithuania as "Liet" (short for Lietuva, the Lithuanian word for Lithuania), and won't stand for him being bullied by Russia, as revealed in both versions of Meeting Of The World (yet to different extents in each version). In The Legend of the Iron Wolf strip, the two share stories about the creation of their capitals, although it can be questioned whether Poland heard Lithuania's story.

Russia
Main Article: Russia

After the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Lithuania became Russia's subordinate. It is suggested that he was Russia's "favourite" and so is often the target of Russia's bullying. After gaining independence in 1918 Lithuania spent eleven years working at America's house, but had to return to Russia after the Great Depression.

Russia visits at one point during Lithuania's outsourcing to tell America to take good care of him because "He is my ex, after all."

In the modern times, Lithuania is shown as sometimes being nervous of Russia, whose approach towards him seems rather unchanged. It is often speculated that the deep scars covering his back were inflicted by Russia because he was the main target of his harsh treatment. Russia once confided to Lithuania that his dream was to be in a warm place surrounded by sunflowers.

A comic from Volume 3 of the manga shows that the two of them met as small children while Russia was under the Tatar's rule. Russia immediately declared Lithuania his friend, much to his confusion.

Appearances
Anime
Lithuania first briefly appears at the meeting in Episode 01, as Russia states that he only wants to see him come running back to him with a troubled face.

He shows up later on in Episode 17: America's Cleaning Of The Storage, Part 1, which marks his first formal appearance in the anime and his first speaking part.

His character design was relatively unchanged in the anime adaptation, aside from his green eyes being changed to a shade of blue and his hair color lightened slightly.

Trivia
*His birthday corresponds with the date of Lithuania's declaration of independence from Russia, on February 16th, 1918, but Lithuania would wind up occupied by both the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany in 1940, then reoccupied by Soviets in 1944. It would become the first Soviet republic to declare its renewed independence on March 11th, 1990, although no country would recognize Lithuania's independence for another year.
*Lithuania was stated to have been officially formed and unified in 1236. As a result, this is the year of Lithuania's birth.
*In a series continuity error, Lithuania is shown as a teenager (along with Poland) when fighting in the Battle of Grunwald, but later is shown to be a small child after the Italian Wars have taken place in Chibitalia, in a Comic Diary strip set during that time frame (and written at around the same time as the Grunwald strip).
*It should be noted that the United States of America never acknowledged Lithuania's incorporation into the Soviet Union, and so recognized Lithuanian independence even when Lithuania was not independent.
*Due to a translation error in Episode 1, the name above Lithuania's flag switched to "Latvia" when Poland stepped in front of him.
*In volume 4 Estonia stated that Lithuania was also an (inconsistent) member of the Academy Choral Club along with Ukraine and Latvia. He also states that the Academy's Soviet Union club is targeting them, however Russia confirms that the Soviet Union club has disbanded.

Romania (ルーマニア, Rūmania) is a supporting character in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers.

Attributes
Appearance
Romania has shaggy strawberry blond hair, with a small pearl-like earring on his left ear in some illustrations. He has red eyes and a small fang on the left side of his mouth. In his first appearance, he is shown wearing a small top hat, and wears a large trench coat. A series of chibis show green, black, red and purple color scheme variations of the hat and coat.

Personality and Interests
He is described as friendly, cheerful, and a bit mischievous, but also as carelessly eccentric. He has a strong belief in black magic and loves folklore. Thinking of fairy tale princesses, specifically the tale of Ileana Cosânzeana, he has a romantic side. Character notes reveal that his strong points are good luck charms and magic.

Relationships
Hungary
:Main Article: Hungary
In Hungary's bio and relationship chart, their relationship is described like the one between cats and dogs, and Hungary names dogs after Romania as an insult. It is further elaborated that they fight a lot and can't stand each other at all, and as a result Hungarians appear extremely often in Romanian jokes.

Appearances
Manga
Romania first appears in the volume 4 Gakuen Hetalia strip Carry On, Newspaper Club! as a member of the school's Magic Club alongside England, revealing that their activities primarily consist of dressing up like Harry Potter, performing love spells, and praying for an abundant harvest. He also appears during the Halloween 2011 event hanging out with Japan, subsequently leaving when Italy and Germany arrive, and later converses with Bulgaria.

Trivia
*In volume 3, Romania is referenced briefly via mentions of the predecessor states Wallachia and Moldavia on a map in a story having to do with eastern Europe. Wallachia is also mentioned by Hungary in a rundown of her enemies, though their gender is unspecified, with them only being shown from behind as a cloaked figure. It is also uncertain if the Moldavia in question is the same entity as Moldova.
* In volume 4, Romania is revealed to be a member of the magic club along with England.

Skins and Portal
I've added the codes you posted and they seem to be working just fine! Though for some reason the America image won't show up on the portal. The BG doesn't seem to work very will with the Vector skin so I think I'll remove it. I just tried it with the Monaco skin and ended up with the same results. Monobook works perfectly fine.

Also, I found a way to change the default skin so if you want to me to change the default from Vector to Monobook, just let me know and I'll do that! Icelilly 15:08, 2 November 2011 (EST)

TRNC appearance
Hey! TRNC recently appeared in his first strip during the Halloween event. Should his infobox be changed to reflect that? I know he appeared in the sorta-omake, but this seems to be his definitive debut. Also, I began a rough mockup of a names page at User:Watermint/Names. Currently, the character pages include them--but the paragraphs are almost entirely fanon and speculation. I rather have the simple sentence in the lede, with the name linking to a name page. Whaddya think? Watermint 10:36, 4 November 2011 (EST)
:The names page looks good so far! Is there information on the circumstances surrounding the decision to assign names? Because that would be a good thing to add. And I think that the sketch is actually Egypt because the headdress looks more like his. :/ -FH14 11:01, 4 November 2011 (EST)
::Ah, true. I keep forgetting Egypt XD I was judging from that small image in the prolude, but their Halloween arrival definitely has Egypt. I think Himaruya assigned names due to fan requests, but I don't know much about the circumstances. Bella, on the other hand, seems much more knowledgeable, so she might be able to help the page. Watermint 11:54, 4 November 2011 (EST)

Book template
For the template, I'm still trying to figure out how to organize it. I'm still keen I'm changing the "extra stories" page to unpublished strips, as the list would be incredibly long if we take no discretion. For published strips on the template, are those the ones in Comic Birz? I figure we might as well make a page just for Birz strips, and remove them as they are put in volumes. Watermint 13:12, 4 November 2011 (EST)
:Yeah it's for the Birz Strips (and I was thinking the same thing about moving them to Volume pages when they're collected). The Extra Stories/Unpublished is a bit strange... Maybe have the link on the Template be called "Other Unpublished Strips" and we could un-italicize the "Other Published Strips" Link Above, to have them match? -FH14 13:14, 4 November 2011 (EST)
::How many Birz strips are there? I know there's the Africa series of strips, and then that sales commemoration. Is that all? I'd be down with that. I have my ShoutWiki list, too. It's in alphabetical order, though. User:Watermint/Unpublished. Also, do you know if the completed Isolationist!Japan strips were released in volume 4? I need to go through and remove published strips. Also, should the holiday specials get a separate page? We don't have the room to go in-depth on the listing, and there's not a huge chance they'll ever be published. Do you have the translated strip of this?Watermint 13:29, 4 November 2011 (EST)
:There's also another one that hasn't made its way online yet that was released at the end of October. All of the Isolationist!Japan strips were reprinted except for this omake - http://www.geocities.jp/himaruya/momomo.jpg. The Event Holiday Specials could probably merit their own pages, but other like April Fools 2010 are basically normal strips and probably don't warrant the attention. :/ -FH14 14:40, 4 November 2011 (EST)
::Alright. I guess we'll just have keep our eyes peeled? Ah, so the omake is missing...Well, I could either throw the series under "partially published" or stick the omake under the 2010-2011 section. As for the Holiday specials (fun fact: I just typed Hawllowday), I meant they could go in a cumulative list. But separating the major events is fine, too. The rest could just go under the main listing. Watermint 14:48, 4 November 2011 (EST)
:::Major Events might make more sense. Oh and that Korea strip has been translated somewhere on the Hetalia maincomm under the "official: scanlation" tag I believe. -FH14 14:51, 4 November 2011 (EST)
::I found where it should be, but the images have been deleted. Aw. I suppose I'll incorporate the minor events into the main sections. Watermint 14:53, 4 November 2011 (EST)
::Also, do you have any idea what this is? ::One more thing! I took the List of Hetalia: Axis Powers CDs from Shout. It needs some filling out, but it's here. Watermint 14:58, 4 November 2011 (EST)
:::Some book? I've seen it before but honestly have no idea what it is. The Korea comic is about Korea running into China whose wearing copyright-infringing Disney merchandise hence the pixelation. Korea wears the ears to see if when he blurs out he'll be able to see China. It works and Korea swoons while Hong Kong looks on all "This is stupid." Also, I think the Media Template might be a bit too confusing since there are other templates that index those pages already. (saw that you imported that page I completely forgot about it orz) -FH14 15:01, 4 November 2011 (EST)
::Thanks! Yeah, the media template was looking sketchy, so I moved it away. Which reminds me! I'd like to eventually set up Season pages with the covers of various Japanese releases and the US counterpart. Still a rough idea, but it could work. I just randomly remembered it and decided to upload. I'll try and find more about the book. Just so I can stick it on the template. Watermint 15:12, 4 November 2011 (EST)

How to use strips?
/awkwardly written subject headline. I've been pondering this thing for awhile...How do you think we should refer to strips in articles? For example, the strip "Walking Together". Our options are:
*Walking Together
*"Walking Together"
*Walking Together
Now, I personally think we need one of the latter two. But, regardless, I mostly just want consistency. Waddyathink? (Also, everyone else, please chime in!) Watermint 16:20, 15 November 2011 (EST)
:I suppose Italics may be the best? IDK :/ (Everyone else please chime in too) -69.116.42.249 16:22, 15 November 2011 (EST)

Seborga

2011-11-05T00:48:15Z

69.116.42.249:

Seborga (セボルガ, Seboruga) is a minor character in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers.

Attributes
Appearance
Seborga is a young teen who resembles both Veneziano and Romano; he has a hair curl, similar to theirs, and has a skin tone that falls between Veneziano's fair complexion and Romano's olive complexion. He is often depicted carrying around an inner tube.

Personality and Interests
Seborga is a womanizer, a quality he shares with his brothers though he seems to have more of a fixation on it than them. In his profile, he invites Italy to come and take a tour of his country any time, encouraging him to bring a pretty girl when he does.

Though he declared his independence hundreds of years ago, he continued to live as a part of Italy; this may be due to his passiveness.

Relationships
Wy
Main Article: Wy

After Wy declares her independence, Seborga goes to surprise her and introduce himself in her garden. However, he gets stuck in the tree where he was hiding and eventually upsets Wy. He remarks that Wy is cute, and he may make a pass at her once she is a bit older.

Appearances
Manga
Seborga has only appeared sparsely in sketches and in one strip insofar. The strip and sketches have not currently been included in a published manga volume.

Trivia
*While Seborga has been in a few chibi sketches, in his only non-deformed appearance he is covered in ketchup and hanging on a tree; this makes his height and age difficult to gauge, though its generally agreed that he is shown to be a few years older than Sealand and Wy.
*The Principality of Seborga is unique among micronations because of its history as an independent entity before becoming part of Italy.

List of Hetalia characters

2011-11-03T21:22:25Z

69.116.42.249: /* Mediterranean Europe */

:See also: List of minor characters in Hetalia: Axis Powers, List of historical characters in Hetalia: Axis Powers, Creatures of Hetalia

This is a list of the characters who appear in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers, created by Hidekaz Himaruya.

Axis Powers
North Italy (Veneziano)
Main article: Italy
*Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa, Aki Kanada (Chibitalia)
*Voiced by (English dub): Todd Haberkorn, Brina Palencia (Chibitalia)

The title character of the series. He is an energetic and friendly yet clumsy young man, who also happens to be rather cowardly and obsessed with pasta. He is the grandson of Ancient Rome who was once the strongest nation in the world, as well the younger brother of Romano (South Italy). When in trouble, he often cries for Germany's help or insists on surrendering. Though he is bad at fighting, his creativity in art and trade is strong, and he is also a very good cook. The strange hair curl on the left side of his head acts as an erogenous zone for him when pulled.

Germany
Main article: Germany
*Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto
*Voiced by (English dub): Patrick Seitz

A strict and rule-abiding soldier type, Germany was the one to discover Italy hiding in the crate of tomatoes in the middle of WWI (originally oranges in the webcomic version) when they were enemies. He later became allies with Italy, the two growing closer despite their differences. Due to his tendency to over-rely on manuals for orderliness, he finds himself running into trouble whenever there's a misunderstanding. He has a secret passion for baking cake and making sweets and is also suggested to be a closet pervert.

Japan
Main article: Japan
*Voiced by: Hiroki Takahashi, Ai Iwamura (Young Japan)
*Voiced by (English dub): Christopher Bevins, Alexis Tipton (Young Japan)

The third and final major member of the Axis Powers, recruited by Germany. He is mysterious and quiet, as well as hard-working. Though he looks to be the youngest of the main three, he is in fact the oldest and acts accordingly with the behavior of an old man.
He answers "No" in ambiguous and indirect ways, and he is rarely shown to be volatile in the series, though it is said that if enough pressure builds up, he can become very "scary" in his rage. His hobby is to read the atmosphere, assess situations, and act carefully. He has a weakness for 2D erotica and geek culture, as well as small animals.

Allied Forces
(United States of) America
Main article: America
*Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi, Ai Iwamura (Young America)
*Voiced by (English dub): Eric Vale, Luci Christian (Young America)

A loud, energetic type of man who occasionally intrudes upon other people's business. He is obsessed with superheroes and hamburgers, and thinks nothing of eating strangely-colored candies and cakes (which disturbs Japan). He has a strange phobia of ghosts, but is friends with an alien, Tony, who lives with him. He is the youngest of the Allied Forces in human and nation age, and their self-declared leader in the WWII strips that make up the main storyline. The strange crescent-shaped lock of hair on his head represents Nantucket, while his glasses are Texas.

England/United Kingdom
Main article: England
*Voiced by: Noriaki Sugiyama
*Voiced by (English dub): Scott Freeman

The cynical, foul-mouthed, estranged mentor figure to America. He used to be a pirate before he settled down into his "gentleman" role. His most noticeable physical features are his thick eyebrows. England is also well-versed in black magic and can see mythical creatures that others can't, which causes the other nations to think of them as his hallucinations. He has a bad relationship with France, which has stemmed as far back as their childhood years.

Though he is technically the United Kingdom (as evidenced by his flag), he is often referred to as simply England in most translations (though merchandise refers to him as UK, due to the Japanese word Igirisu being used for both terms). Himaruya has confirmed that he represents both the UK and England, he is officially known as the UK to other nations, with the exception of his brothers. He is mentioned to have an older brother representing Scotland, who regularly bullied him in their childhood. Two other brothers mentioned by Himaruya are Wales and Northern Ireland, with it being currently unknown what kind of relation Ireland has to him.

France
Main article: France
*Voiced by: Masaya Onosaka
*Voiced by (English dub): J. Michael Tatum

Proud and dangerously affectionate, France has been involved in a strong rivalry with England for the longest time. He can often be seen making inappropriate advances on others or streaking, and is said to fall in love with anything that is beautiful, even if it is not human. France is very proud of his art and culture, to the point where he is stubborn to learn languages other than his own. He considers himself to be a "big brother", and grew his beard to look more like one.

Russia
Main article: Russia
*Voiced by: Yasuhiro Takato
*Voiced by (English dub): Jerry Jewell

A large, intimidating nation with a simplistic and easygoing personality, yet has the cruelty of a child deep down. Russia has mentally cracked from his history of war and bloodshed, however, he is unaware of his own aforementioned cruel tendencies. His greatest dream is apparently to eventually live in a warm place with sunflowers. During WWII, he had many other nations living under him as the Soviet Union, including the Baltics and his two sisters. He considers vodka to be his fuel, and is almost always shown wearing the scarf that his older sister Ukraine gave him.

He is categorized as a "yandere" character.

China
Main article: China
*Voiced by: Yuki Kaida
*Voiced by (English dub): Clarine Harp

A young-looking hermit that is one of the oldest apparent nations in the series (out of the main cast), and the self-proclaimed eldest "brother" to the other Asian characters, though Japan does not think of him as one in turn. He has an easy-going demeanor, and has a fondness for food and cute things, though the characters he creates are often bootlegged versions of other countries' ones (such as Hello Kitty and Disney mascots). It also appears that China is very wary of Russia.

In the original Japanese version, he has a tendency to end his sentences with the "-aru" suffix, a trait that Japanese people tend to stereotypically associate with Chinese accents.

West Europe
Belgium
Main Article: Belgium
*Voiced by: Eriko Nakamura

A taller girl that is described as being cheerful and gentle-mannered, not much else is known about her at this point. She is the younger sister of Netherlands, though the two have very different personalities and do not resemble each other in appearance.

Netherlands
Main Article: Netherlands
*Voiced by: Nobuya Mine, Hiroki Yasumoto (Silhouette)
*Voiced by (English dub): Michael Sinterniklaas

The older brother of Belgium. He is depicted as a strong and rebellious type of man, with a somewhat cold personality and a scar on his forehead (though the cause of his scar is currently unknown). Though he is unfriendly to most, he appears to get along well with Japan.

It is said that he despises Spain and had once fought with Turkey over the title of "The Tulip Country". A note by Finland in Christmas Rampage 2007 revealed that he also is fond of really young women and thinks nothing of using some types of shady drugs.

Spain
Main article: Spain
*Voiced by: Go Inoue
*Voiced by (English dub): Dave Trosko

A once powerful nation that wound up driven to poverty by England, America, and the Netherlands. He is generally cheerful and friendly, though he is also oblivious and insensitive to a degree, unable to "read the atmosphere" and not even bothering to try to. Though he is affectionate around his former henchman Romano, the other does not often openly return the kindness. Spain is also often depicted as both France's friend and rival.

Central Europe
Austria
Main article: Austria
*Voiced by: Akira Sasanuma, Aki Kanada (Young Austria)
*Voiced by (English dub): Chuck Huber

A young master who loves the piano. He was born to fight, yet was too weak as a child and often had to be assisted in battles by his friend Switzerland, until they had a falling-out. Despite his high class appearance, he is very frugal. His history was marked by many marriages, including one to Hungary (referencing the Austro-Hungarian Compromise) and one to Spain (referencing the union of the countries in the House of Habsburg). He helped raise the younger Italy when he became property of the Holy Roman Empire.

Hungary
Main article: Hungary
*Voiced by: Michiko Neya
*Voiced by (English dub): Luci Christian

A former nomad and tomboyish type of woman who was once married to Austria. Although their union ended, she still feels strongly towards him (though she had conflicted feelings under his rule).

As a child, she believed herself to be a boy until she hit puberty. She is fond of riding horses, and carries a cast-iron frying pan with her as a weapon (which she has used against both France and Prussia). She is also a fujoshi (literally: "rotten girl") type of character.

Liechtenstein
Main article: Liechtenstein
*Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya
*Voiced by (English dub): Cherami Leigh

The adoptive younger sister of Switzerland, who once lived a difficult life after WWI ended and she was left in a crisis. She is incredibly grateful to Switzerland and often dresses like him to show her appreciation. Due to being mistaken as a boy by a civilian, she wears a purple ribbon in her hair. As she has no army of her own, she relies on her older brother to take care of those affairs.

Poland
Main article: Poland
*Voiced by: Kokoro Tanaka
*Voiced by (English dub): Ryan Bijan

The somewhat childish and eccentric partner of Lithuania, he was a superpower as part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth until he became annexed by Russia and the two were split apart. In the time that he was partitioned, he became friends with Italy. Though he comes off selfish and loud, he is shy at heart and can become flustered in the presence of strangers.

Switzerland
Main article: Switzerland
*Voiced by: Romi Park
*Voiced by (English dub): John Burgmeier

A xenophobic and reclusive former mercenary who is overprotective of his Alps. He is described as the "eternal neutral" country and is trigger-happy, shooting at those who'd dare cross his lawns. He adopted Liechtenstein after WWI when she fell into poverty, and acts as her older brother. But he is also reminded of his lapsed friendship with Austria when around her, a period which he does not like to be reminded of.

Eastern Europe
Belarus
Main article: Belarus
*Voiced by: Urara Takano
*Voiced by (English dub): Monica Rial

Russia's younger sister, who wishes to marry him someday although he fears her. She is shown to have a harsh and intimidating demeanor, and despises Lithuania, who happens to have a crush on her. Belarus does not like the idea of anyone else being around her brother, and tends to remain at his side to threaten those that come near (as mentioned in the drama version of Let's Talk about the G8 Members).

Bulgaria
Main article: Bulgaria
* Voiced by: Go Inoue
* Voiced by (English dub): Justin Pate

A member of the Axis Powers whose true personality remains a mystery at the moment. He is shown to have attacked Italy with a stick (as something about Italy's face compelled him to do so).

Estonia
Main article: Estonia
*Voiced by: Atsushi Kousaka
*Voiced by (English dub): Mike McFarland

The studious one of the three Baltic states, who is really into computers and allegedly has the most luck in avoiding Russia and problems due to his wit (though this conflicts with Estonia's actual unlucky history). When something dangerous or unfortunate happens to Latvia, he can usually be heard screaming his name. He is best friends with Finland.

Latvia
Main article: Latvia
*Voiced by: Kokoro Tanaka, Rie Kugimiya (Hetalia Drama CD: Volume 2)
*Voiced by (English dub): Ryan Reynolds

The youngest of the Baltic states, and the most sensitive. Though he wishes he had siblings, the other two do not think of themselves as his brothers. He is easily intimidated by Russia, who he had tried and failed to oppose various times.

In the modern day strips, he is friends with Sealand and attempts to act as an "older brother" figure to him, but finds it difficult due to his own insecurities.

Lithuania
Main article: Lithuania
*Voiced by: Ken Takeuchi
*Voiced by (English dub): Josh Grelle

The oldest of the three Baltic states and a shy, gentle type. He was once the partner of Poland during their days as a superpower, but were split apart when Russia partitioned him. In the main storyline, he is shown as an underling of Russia as part of the Soviet Union.

He is often intimidated by Russia even in the modern day, though he is shown to get along well with America and Poland. Though he carries feelings for Belarus, they are not returned and he is unaware of the fact that she loathes him.

Ukraine
Main article: Ukraine
*Voiced by: Yuki Masuda
*Voiced by (English dub): Lydia Mackay

The older sister of Russia with a large heart and chest. She is constantly in a state of crisis, and is very poor and unable to pay Russia for gas. In addition, she is compelled to apologize for everything, even for having a female boss. In the anime, her chest bouncing is further exaggerated by loud sound effects that follow her wherever she goes.

Nordic Europe
Denmark
Main article: Denmark
*Voiced by: Hiroshi Shimozaki
*Voiced by (English dub): Montgomery Sutton

A powerful Nordic nation calling himself the "King of Scandinavia", he once had control over Sweden and Finland. Denmark also considers himself to be very close to Norway, though the other feels differently.

His general attitude is that of a loud, somewhat oblivious and arrogant young man that drinks heavily.

Finland
Main article: Finland
*Voiced by: Takahiro Mizushima
*Voiced by (English dub): Clint Bickham

Sweden's close partner whom he called his "wife", though he denied having such a connection to him when they were together, and will still deny the idea when confronted with it (as shown in Christmas Rampage 2007).

Out of the five Nordics, he has suffered the most hardships. He usually is depicted as cheery and mild, but it is said that when confronted with the scene of a battle or fire, his brute strength can show. Estonia is his best friend, due to their similarities and love for planning festivals.

Iceland
Main article: Iceland
*Voiced by: Ayumu Asakura
*Voiced by (English dub): Jason Leibrecht

Norway's younger brother. A mysterious boy with a cool exterior, it is said that he is hot-blooded and passionate deep down. He is treated kindly by Russia (who has helped him out in his financial crisis), but he can't help but feel suspicious.

Though he considers Norway to be the home where his heart really is, he is reluctant to refer to him as his big brother out of pride.

Norway
Main article: Norway
*Voiced by: Masami Iwasaki
*Voiced by (English dub): Alex Organ

A mysterious and reclusive Nordic, often seen with a nisse and described as being able to see other mythical creatures. Like Hong Kong, he has a distinct lack of facial expressions and outward emotion.

He finds Denmark very annoying and is unnerved by his attitude, though Denmark is oblivious to his reactions. After an excavation (or "DNA Test"), it was revealed that Norway and Iceland were actually brothers.

Sweden
Main article: Sweden
*Voiced by: Keikou Sakai
*Voiced by (English dub): Robert McCollum

A tall, silent nation who appears to be intimidating and difficult to understand, but that is actually very playful deep down. After leaving Denmark, he considered Finland to be his "wife", though the other denied having such a connection.

He had partial custody of Estonia and Latvia in the past as his sort of "sons" (referencing Sweden's rule of Swedish Livonia), but eventually lost them to Russia.

Mediterranean Europe
Cyprus
Main article: Cyprus

Though he attempts to act tough, he is in fact cowardly and a crybaby too.
