Lithuania/Belarus is a semi-popular hetero pairing in the series Hetalia: Axis Powers. It involves the two characters Lithuania and Belarus. The pairing is considered purely one-sided on Lithuania's part, as Belarus holds strong feelings for Russia and is said to hate Lithuania with a passion.

It is commonly referred to as LietBela, Stork Pair (the national bird in both countries is the stork) and LitBel in the Japanese fandom due to based off of the historical name for the short union between the two nations (Litbel).

Early Years

It is said that Lithuania has had a crush on Belarus since childhood to the point that he calls her with the suffix "-chan", yet it was never returned because of Belarus' feelings for her brother and hatred for Lithuania himself. It's also been mentioned that she has been breaking his limbs since they were little, but he either thinks little of it or simply does not care, as this doesn't seem to deter him. When Lithuania did manage to go on a date with Belarus, she broke all his fingers.

In a later blog post, Himaruya stated that he toyed with the idea of Lithuania and Belarus being something like childhood friends.

Fan Speculations

Lithuania/Belarus is considered by many to be purely one-sided on Lithuania's part, as Belarus seems to express nothing but hatred for him and tries to inflict as much damage to him as possible.

Another fan speculation is that Belarus' hatred for him stems from the fact that Russia considers him a "favorite" thought Lithuania and Belarus know each other since they were small children and it´s revealed that she has been hurting Lithuania before he became Russia´s subordinate (having once breaking his leg and strangling him as kids).

It's implied that Belarus' hatred for him comes from the real-life history fact between the two countries from Lithuania's annexation of Belarus and due to this, she was separated from her brother for a long time.

In many fan works, a recurring idea depicts Lithuania as the person who comforts Belarus after having been rejected by Russia.

• Russia´s Big and Little Sister: Lithuania says that Russia´s sister is strong and cute. He states that he´s talking about Belarus.
• Pact of Steel: Lithuania tries to not going with Russia to visit Germany by telling him that he has a date with Belarus but he fails.

Webcomic: "Comic Diaries"

• Comic Diary 11: Lithuania manages to go on a date with Belarus, that lasted three minutes. In the end she broke all of her fingers. There's a deleted scene in which Poland tries to make Lithuania remember that she has been hurting him since childhood (she broke his leg in the past and she tried to strangle him when they were kids).

• Halloween 2011: Lithuania briefly holds her hand as she confronts Denmark about Russia being the one to win the costume contest.
