Alfred F. Jones is a main character in the series Axis Powers Hetalia. He represents America (アメリカ, Amerika) and leads the Allied Forces.

Appearance
He has short blond hair, with a wild strand sticking up (it represents Nantucket), and blue eyes. He wears a tan uniform and a brown bomber jacket with a '50' on the back (for the fifty states). His glasses are said to represent the state of Texas. Alfred is often shown holding a hamburger or a large-size soft drink (usually a cola) and flashing a thumbs-up.

When Alfred initially appeared in the webcomic, his hair was drawn smoother and he had no wild strand. Eventually as the art style changed, Himaruya added in the strand and made Alfred's hair slightly wilder. Alfred also was shown to have his pants tucked into his boots in older designs, but more modern artwork depicts him wearing his pants over the boots.

Personality And Interests
Alfred is a cheerful, energetic, yet somewhat arrogant young man who is obsessed with heroes, justice, and freedom. He has the habit of sticking his nose into everyone else's business, which causes him to have difficulty making friends. He loves hamburgers and junk food, and can even eat strange and inedible things due to inheriting Arthur's sense of taste (or lack thereof). His profile states that his hobbies are sports, games, and making movies; furthermore, in the side-story "Black Ships Have Come", in introducing himself to Japan, he states that his hobbies are "quick-draw, archaeology, and adventures" (which is translated to Japan as America's hobby being lechery). He possesses an abnormal amount of strength, shown even as a child by easily swinging a full-grown buffalo around, and has been once seen running around dragging a heavy SUV, belonging to England, behind him for an hour in order to ask permission to borrow it.

Though he is friends with an alien named Tony, he doesn't believe in Arthur's fairies or unicorns.

Relationships
Arthur Kirkland (England/United Kingdom)
Main Article: Arthur Kirkland

Alfred was discovered as a small child by Arthur, who adopted him and raised him as his younger brother, treating him with much care and adoration. When the Revolutionary War came, Alfred declared his independence and split from him. As part of the Allied Forces, Arthur often disagrees with the unusual ideas that Alfred presents. Even after the Revoluntionary War ended, Arthur and Alfred still remain friends, occasionally bickering.

Matthew Williams (Canada)
Main Article: Matthew Williams

Alfred's brother, who is always overshadowed by him and even mistaken for being him. Alfred and the other nations even tend to forget that he exists, but there are times, such as in Episode 44, where Matthew comes to talk to Alfred, and Alfred has no trouble recognizing him and seeing him.

Kiku Honda (Japan)
Main Article: Honda Kiku

Because Alfred is always interfering in others' affairs, his only real friends tend to be Japan and England. Alfred often visits Kiku at his home.

In the Anime
Alfred first appeared at the beginning of Episode 01 where he announced his plan to stop global warming. In Episode 06, he briefly appeared where he was spying on the Axis Powers and later roasting marshmallows. In Episode 07, he was attempting to announce his plan to take down the Axis Powers, but no one could understand him, due to him eating and drinking while speaking. He appears again in Episode 09, fully explaining his plan of being the hero while the other Allies serve as support.

Alfred had a brief cameo in Episode 11, as he attempted to talk to Arthur about something, but wound up confused when he saw that the other man appeared to be interacting with thin air. He later appears in the supermarket line in Episode 14, laughing rather loudly.

Alfred's childhood is spotlighted numerous times in the anime, including Episode 25 and Episodes 39 and 40, which tells of how France and England battled each other over his ownership.

In a minor difference from the manga design, the '50' was left off of Alfred's jacket in the anime adaptation.

Trivia
*Although commonly referred to as America, some merchandise refers to him by the full term United States Of America, or simply U.S. for short.

*His birthday corresponds with the Independence Day of July 4th, 1776, when the American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain.
*"Jones" is one of the most common surnames in the United States (as is "Smith" and "Williams"). "Alfred F." is most probably an allusion to Alfred E. Neuman. It could also be possible that his name is a reference to the USS Alfred, the first ship to fly the Grand Union Flag. The man who hoisted the flag happened to be named John Paul Jones.
*In some fanart, he is often portrayed with a bunny, as "U.S.A." can also be "usa", which means "bunny" in Japanese. The child version of Alfred was also shown to have a bunny following him, when he first met the older nations.

Black Hetalia (fan video)

2009-09-20T18:04:18Z

74.229.40.190: Created article, will find out artist and Nico date info when possible

Black Hetalia is a fan video (or "MAD"), that uses animation from the anime series Black Lagoon, traced over and redrawn to feature the Hetalia characters. It uses the song "Broken Glass Syndrome" by Halifax.

Summary
Prologue
Vietnam bids France farewell, hoping that they'll meet again someday in the same place with a picnic basket. France replies that it sounds wonderful.

Black Hetalia
The video opens with Hungary, asleep in her bed. She opens her eyes. Shots of the five Nordics flash by:

*Sweden, with the glare of his glasses shielding his eyes.

*Finland with guns.

*Norway taking a drink of beer.

*Denmark making a fist.

*Iceland surrounded by flames.

A close up of Prussia's eye is shown, as he fires a gun. The camera pans quickly down a hallway, with South Korea and North Korea standing at the end, and cuts to a shot of Lithuania, wielding two guns. Poland rides in on horseback and leaps off his horse, producing three throwing knives in his hand (which he proceeds to throw).

Belarus is shown with a knife, but as she dives down to attack, it appears to morph into a pair of spiked knuckles. Egypt and Latvia face off against each other in a gunfight, while Sealand is also shown to be wielding a gun (and grinning maniacally). Taiwan is shown next attacking with an umbrella, followed by a still shot of Australia and Austria, standing side by side. Switzerland sits in a dark corner, glaring.

The lineups of the Axis Powers and Allied Forces flash by next:

*On the Axis side (from left to right): Finland, Hungary, Austria, Japan, North and South Italy, and Germany.

*On the Allies side (L to R): Canada, America, UK, France, Russia, and China.

The next sequence is of Greece and Bulgaria, facing off in a gunfight. The female version of China darts through the air, holding a pair of cleavers. The next shot is of the two Koreas grinning evilly, followed by a shot of Holland and the male and female versions of Hungary (the three figures are all cloaked in shadow).

Germany breaks out a pair of guns, causing Cuba to drop his cigarette. Belgium appears next, with a clover-shaped tattoo on her face (in the Belgian flag colors) and sticking out her tongue. Seychelles leaps down from a high building.

Hong Kong and China fight a bunch of faceless goons, while China charges up to Japan, who fires off a gun. Russia appears next, with Austria and Prussia in the background. He grins evilly and swings out his pipe, as Turkey watches from afar. Lithuania is attacked first by Russia, who then beats a horrified Poland with the pipe (after crushing his hand beneath his boot), causing the screen to become filled with blood. Holy Roman Empire appears next, shown to be firing a large rifle.

Two pairs of green eyes are shown next, the latter pair clearly UK's. Switzerland leaps down to the ground, as a shot of guns follows. The female versions of Spain and Romano ("Romana") are shown, followed by America, who morphs into his female self and does a fast flip through the air. Thailand is shown next, cracking a whip.

The child version of America appears in a window, as UK runs and fires a gun. The adolescent version of America appears in the window next, as America fires a gun back at UK. The window is shown again, now empty, as the two attack each other.

Liechtenstein and her male self ("Rihikun") clasp their hands together as Estonia walks by, talking on a cellphone. The two Liechtensteins proceed to make out. Turkey faces off against some other men with a gun, while Taiwan ducks and rolls. A close up shot of America's face is next, as his glasses ("Texas") appear. A bullet rolls on the ground, and a cigarette is lit.

Chibitalia appears crying on a TV screen, as the female version of UK ("Igiko") continues to smoke. Tibet is shown kneeling in what appears to be a lake of blood, the next shot featuring the female versions of the Axis (Japan, North Italy, and Germany). A portrait of the House Of Habsburg follows that shot, with Austria depicted in the center of the "family":

*On the left side: Holy Roman Empire, Bavaria, Saxony, and Württemberg.

*On the right side: Czech holding Slovakia, Hungary, and Chibitalia.

The camera pans across a group of African nations next: Zimbabwe, Botswana, Ghana, and Uganda. Prussia charges forward and kneels as an explosion goes off.

Liechtenstein and Slovakia face off against each other with guns, Liechtenstein managing to to fire off a shot, though Czech pulls out a gun and also fires. Two female African nations appear, smiling and also wielding guns (which they proceed to fire). The Turkish Republic Of Northern Cyprus and Sealand are shown running off together.

The five Nordics arm themselves with weapons. Germania is shown next, with his face fading into that of his offspring's (Holy Roman Empire). A sepia-toned shot of North Italy follows, with Ancient Rome's face appearing the background. The shot switches to South Italy, and Rome's face briefly comes to the foreground, before both Italy brothers appear in front of it to hold hands. South Korea and Mongolia appear next, with sinister smiles.

The younger versions of Russia and his sisters are shown, as Russia's arm sweeps off his coat and covers the foreground. The adult Ukraine loads a gun, and the camera cuts to a portrait shot of Japan's six feudal territories (Owari, Kanazawa, Sendai, Aizu, Mito, and Osaka). Japan opens his eyes, and a newspaper article about the Allied Forces' invasion of Italy appears. North Italy is shown next, followed by a shot of a gun-toting Germany. A bullet fires, and the sequence cuts to France, who stares in horror as Jeanne D'Arc is burnt at the stake. UK and Russia grin.

China throws on his jacket and does a flip, crashing through a window. He lands on a car and dents it, as the three Baltics get out their guns (with Estonia wielding two). Cuba is also shown loading his gun, a cigarette hanging from his mouth. A swordfight in front of stained glass is shown next.

Japan rushes into battle, firing a pair of guns. North Italy follows in Japan's lead with his own pair, as Canada falls to the ground holding another pair. He gets up and mouths something to someone offscreen. Kenya appears next, holding a cigar.

South Italy (dressed in blue) fires a gun at the female version of France, who shoots back at him with her own gun. An unknown female African nation circles Rome on a map, and stares at it intently. Hong Kong stands atop a structure holding a pair of guns, while Spain is shown smiling. Switzerland spots Liechtenstein sitting alone in an alleyway in the rain and offers his hand to her, which she grasps. A fiery ship-to-ship combat scene is shown next, as Pirate UK sinks Spain's armada.

Spain enters the ship to fight UK, and brings out his axe. UK apologizes and says that it's the end for Spain, and that it is a "real shame". He continues, saying that Spain will have to apologize for his mischief, and orders for him to kneel. Spain tries to get in a word, but UK repeats for him to "kneel" and shoots him through the leg. Spain falls and stares in shock at his bloodied leg, but tries to get a hit back at UK by throwing his axe (though it misses). Spain grits his teeth in pain as he "kneels". UK watches Spain writhe on the ground in his own blood, and buries his face in his hand. He looks up at the sky, upon where he sees various images:

*Female China, holding her cleavers.
*A teenage version of France.
*Austria vs. Prussia, during the "War Of Austrian Succession".
*Russia with a sinister smile.
*France watching Jeanne's execution.
*Liechtenstein taking Switzerland's hand.
*Spain lying on the ground injured.
*What appears to be Japan, burying his face in hand.
*Poland darting through the air.
*Belarus lifting her skirt to a horrified Russia.
*The child versions of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.
*A teenage version of Hungary.
*Liechtenstein with her gun.
*Germany with his gun out.
*A teenage Switzerland, wearing a suit of armor.
*Japan staring contemplatively (and wearing his housekeeper outfit).
*The female version of Russia, smiling.

The sequence changes to show America, who spots Vietnam. Feathers float by in the sky, as Chibitalia sits in the grass, crying. The shadow of HRE appears in the grass. The younger version of Romano stands up, and is held by Spain. Shots of Germania, Rome, and France follow after.

America points out his gun and fires, as the video cuts to black and ends with his gunshot.

Axis Powers Hetalia: The CD was an early, independently-produced drama CD adaptation of the Axis Powers Hetalia manga. Though it was produced in 2007, it was not released until September 14th, 2008. Due to Hetalia having been licensed for commercial drama CD adaptations at the time, this CD was mail-order only, though further copies were distributed in limited quantities at a doujinshi event.

The drama group The Code For Flower Of Iris had previously provided voices for the Gakuen Hetalia dating sim, and had provided promotional voice clips to commemorate the launch of Axis Powers Hetalia volume 1.

The thirty-second episode of Axis Powers Hetalia was broadcast on August 28th, 2009. It adapts the story With Grandpa Rome, which was reprinted in the second published volume of the manga.

Plot Summary
Intrusive Rome
Germany has difficulty sleeping, as he remembers having to make cuckoo clocks for France (and narrates that he couldn't sleep well that night). He opens his eyes, only to find a strange man standing over him. The man expresses suspicion and annoyance at "Italy's ally" and is abruptly cut off by a startled Germany, who demands to know his identity.

The man answers that Germany must be ignorant if he doesn't know, and poses, pointing out his "sculpture-like" beauty and his "steel-like" strength. He introduces himself as the Roman Empire, the "supreme ruler of the Mediterranean". Germany points his gun at Rome and demands to know his purpose in being there, adding that impersonating the Roman Empire as unforgivable, as he deeply respects him. Rome insists that he is the Empire, but Germany orders him to stay silent and only answer his questions. Rome quickly ignores the order, noticing a bowl of raw potatoes in the room. He again states that he is the Roman Empire, which causes Germany to point the gun at him again (and remark that he has decided to "put a bullet" through his head).

Grandson-Crazy Rome
Rome, with an arm around Germany, tells him not to get so worked up and reminds him that he's heard his "beautiful voice" before. A brief flashback is shown from Episode 18, of Rome singing in the ocean. Germany becomes shocked at the realization, but demands to know why Rome is in his house.

Rome pulls off the blanket of the bed to reveal Italy sleeping underneath, as he answers that he came to see his grandson. Germany is disturbed by the sudden presence of Italy in his bed, wondering why and how he wound up there. Rome nuzzles his sleeping grandson affectionately, while Germany insists that the situation must be a dream.

Grandpa Rome and Indecency
Rome notes that Germany is quite lonely, and asks if he can't even get a girl in his bed (which aggravates Germany even more). Rome states that he was surrounded by beautiful women in bed when he was Germany's age, and asks if Germany has had any experience. Germany answers with a vehement "No", and calls Rome a "perverted geezer". Rome then asks if that means that he's into boys and older women, adding that love like that was once popular in Naples and that he should have tried it out. Germany insists that he's not interested in it, though Rome asks him if he's ever tried a "Paradise Harem".

At hearing Germany once again answer "No", a shocked Rome frantically asks him if he's ever had sex on the road, if he's ever kissed a girl, and if he's even had sex on the beach (with a cat's meow bleeping out the reference to "sex"). After Germany yells that he hasn't, a tearful Rome bows before Germany on his knees and declares him a saint.

History with Rome
Rome now stands in front of a chalkboard in a suit and glasses, and declares that he'll give Germany some special tutoring (while Germany expresses more annoyance). Rome points to a chalk drawing of the Italian "boot" peninsula and asks if Germany knew where he was, adding that the capital of Rome was his center and that he used to be small back then. He relates how he beat up Carthage, but switches to a discussion of how he drank, ate, fought, had sex, and slept every day.

Germany, however, responds that the brothers Romulus and Remus founded the country in 753 BC. He continues, stating that Rome banished the king of Etruria and became a republic in 509 BC, that he won his land with epoch-making law and military strength, and that Italy was first unified by 272 BC. After these events, Rome expanded his influence across the Mediterranean and proceeded to defeat Carthage.

Rome is stunned by Germany's knowledge, but expresses delight over having a fan. Germany replies that it's true he respects him, but is cut off by the enthusiastic Rome gushing over him. Italy continues to sleep, undisturbed by the noise.

Grandpa's Fall
Rome decides to take his leave, but Germany tells him to hold on. He asks Rome why he disappeared, noting that he had so power, and wonders where he disappeared to. Rome says that those are difficult questions for him to answer, and that he was an idiot who didn't realize that his power and wealth wouldn't stay with him forever. He finally realized it when he was aged and his past glory had long left him. Rome tries to say more, but hesitates and stumbles over words. He turns to Germany and asks if he knows, to which an exasperated Germany can only shake his head...

Post-Credits: Morning
As morning falls, Italy rouses from bed and greets Germany. He tries to tell him about a dream he had of his grandfather, but falls silent as he realizes that Germany is asleep.

Italy calls up Japan in his excitement, explaining that he woke up earlier than Germany for once. A surprised Japan adds that they should celebrate with some red bean rice. As the enthusiastic Italy continues to express amazement about waking up before Germany, Rome watches from the doorway. He smiles at how his grandson has grown up, and says that he was glad that he was able to convince God to let him come visit.

Character Appearances
*North Italy
*Germany
*Japan
*France (in Germany's nightmare)
*Grandpa Rome/Roman Empire

Voice Cast
*North Italy: Daisuke Namikawa
*Germany: Hiroki Yasumoto
*Japan: Hiroki Takahashi
*France: Masaya Onosaka
*Rome: Hozumi Gōda

Trivia
*This episode is the second to feature an eyecatch of a character outside of the Axis Powers or Allied Forces, with Rome getting his own.

*As the island incident in Episode 18 did not occur in the manga, Germany originally had no previous recollections of Rome.

*A strip removed from this adaptation involved Rome showing Germany how to cook a fish, only for Germany to point out that Japan eats a similar food (sashimi). It originally took place between Rome's history lesson and his departure. Another strip not included was an omake exclusive to the published version, involving Rome and Germania. The strip with the history lesson in turn is a replacement for a strip in the webcomic that involved Rome sculpting a nude statue of Germany.

*In a minor difference to both manga tellings of the story, Germany does not slick his hair back and remains with his hair down for the rest of the episode.

*While Italy was naked in the webcomic version of the story, the published version was redrawn in order to further conceal his body with a blanket. In this adaptation, he is shown to be wearing a pink tank top (as in Episode 23) and yellow boxers to bed.

*In the webcomic, Rome was shown in an omake illustration to have briefly visited Romano in his sleep. Another omake illustration, which was not included in the published version, depicted a super-deformed (chibi) God as having been tied up by Rome.

*Though Germany mentions a dream of cuckoo clocks in the manga, we do not see a visual depiction of France there.

*In its Animate.TV broadcast, the episode ran 5 minutes and 29 seconds due to a Hetalia cellphone advert, as well as one for the fourth character CD.

Hetalia (anime)

2009-08-07T20:46:54Z

74.229.40.190: /* Interval Drama CDs */

Axis Powers Hetalia (also referred to as Hetalia: Axis Powers) is the anime adapation of Hidekaz Himaruya's manga of the same title, which premiered on Animate.TV on January 24th, 2009. Directed by Bob Shirohata, the series is scheduled to run for 52 episodes. It is animated by Studio DEEN.

Most of the storyline takes place between the 2 World Wars, however there are segments taking place in earlier times and the modern day as well. The anime is adapted from the published version of the manga, rather than the original webcomic, so early events like the forming of the Axis Powers have been condensed, though some storylines from both versions of the story have been trimmed or left out completely.

Although originally planned for 26 episodes, it was announced on April 15th, 2009, that the series had been renewed for a second order of 26 episodes, bringing the episode count up to 52. The second season of Hetalia began airing on Animate.TV's mobile phone service on July 24th, 2009, with its webcast following three days later.

Episodes
Main Article: List Of Axis Powers Hetalia episodes

Both seasons span 26 episodes, with the first mostly adapting from Axis Powers Hetalia volume 1, though some arcs and strips are sequenced out of order from their original placement. A few "Extra Stories" from the webcomic were also adapted into segments, as well as minor portions of chapters 2 and 3 from the webcomic's main storyline.

Most of the episodes had no titles when broadcast, unless they were shown in a next episode preview with a title listed, as was the case with the fifth and seventeenth episodes of season 1.

The anime is notable for the fact that its episodes are extremely short, with each running approximately 5 minutes in their broadcasts.

Controversy
The anime was originally slated to broadcast on Kids Station on January 24th, but the television airing was cancelled due to "various circumstances". It is believed that the South Korean protests of the series (and reported death threats to the TV station) played a part in the cancellation. The protests arose when an online petition was created to ban the series, due to complaints that the South Korean character was an offensive stereotype. The South Korean government proceeded to declare the series a "national crime", though Kids Station responded that there was no Korean character in the series.

A preliminary character design of South Korea, however, was shown in the early promotional images for the series, suggesting that at one point, he was slated to be included. South Korea can also be seen in the ending sequence, among the other characters on top of the world.

Gakuen Hetalia

74.229.40.190: /* Summary (incomplete demo) */ filled out summary thanks to translation of demo

Gakuen Hetalia (Academy Hetalia, or alternatively, School Hetalia) is an unfinished dating sim project by Hidekaz Himaruya, based off of his Axis Powers Hetalia series. In this alternative universe game, the cast are all in their teens and attend the multicultural private high school, The Academy Of The World. The player character is Seychelles, a new transfer student.

Summary (incomplete demo)
Part 1
Seychelles arrives at her new school, looking around at the vast campus. She narrates that the school was founded recently, and that it imparts education to other countries in hopes of achieving world peace. She mentions that all nations must attend it at least once in their life, though Switzerland has perpetually skipped school and nobody can do anything about it due to fear of his explosive temper.

Seychelles explains that she was living peacefully in her set of islands, but that the European nations forced her to enroll at the academy. She laments at how "terrible" the world is, and at her lack of talents and confidence. While in the past, she was rich and strong, she is now poor and useless, only able to sing, dance, and make souvenirs.

Suddenly, she is approached by England, who asks which country she's supposed to be. He clamps a dog collar around her neck as he declares her to be his new colony (much to her horror and his amusement). England lists the first three rules of the school off to her:

*"Don't run in the halls!"
*"Get along with everyone!"
*"Survival Of The Fittest!"

Seychelles notices that the second and third rules are contradictory, but an irritable England explains that everything ends in rule 3, no matter how friendly they may look. Seychelles becomes upset by this notion, while England orders that as his territory, she must do everything he says and work under him, as he is the president of the student council. He warns that if she tries to flee, he'll invade her house. Seychelles becomes pissed off, and screams at England, calling him an "Eyebrow Bastard".

We fade to a brief beach flashback of Seychelles, as an old man (her grandfather) converses with her about her departure to the outside world. Seychelles states that the only friends she has on the island are the sea life, but her grandfather insists that she'll be able to succeed if she tries hard. Seychelles answers that she'll do her best, even if her flag and national emblem are lame and she'll surely be bullied.

Part 2
Back at the school, England lists off more rules to Seychelles:

*"Follow my orders!"
*"Call me '-sama'!"
*"Don't complain about food!"

England orders her to come to the student council room after her class is over, as her work for him starts today. He lets her go, and she wanders the halls, noting how huge the place is and musing over her depression at being there. She spots China, as the caption "Guy With A Panda" appears (due to him carrying a panda around in his backpack, an animal which she finds to be very interesting). Seychelles decides to ask China about the classes, unsure of where she belongs in the school. As she mentions that she became England's territory, China expresses sympathy and states that England is extremely brutal and bullied him as well (by destroying his house and making him take strange medicines).

China explains that due to England's high position in the student council, nobody can go against him, and he once tried to but lost. He tells Seychelles not to depressed, for maybe they'll have a chance to win against him in the future. Seychelles muses over how useful a spear would be against England, then wonders if tuna fish and seagulls would help her odds as well.

China introduces himself as being part of the Asia class, and that he's famous so she should have at least heard of him before (though she hasn't). Seychelles still expresses confusion over the location of her class, but China offers to lead her to the Africa class. Seychelles then asks China if she can pet his panda...

Part 3
Seychelles introduces herself to the other students of the Africa class. She at first seems to think she can fit in well, as all the others seem to be fun. The first other five students introduce themselves as territories of England, much to her shock. She flashes back
to what he said about the rules, and becomes upset.

The teacher asks if she's alright (as "smoke" is emitting from her head), but Seychelles insists that she's fine. Five more students introduce themselves, the last one being Ethiopia (unseen), who nervously states that he's an Italian territory. Seychelles wonders if Ethiopia is joking, and figures that she doesn't understand their humor.

The other students ask Seychelles what her national emblem and flag are like, as another student details the significance of their flag design. Seychelles hesitates, thinking to herself about how she wanted to skip showing people the emblem. She nervously sketches it out on the blackboard, stating that it's a "tuna and swordfish".

Part 4
After class is over, Seychelles muses over her embarrassment, as the other African nations laughed at her design, one laughing so hard that they had to be carried off by paramedics.

As she walks further, lost in thought, she collides with Italy, who falls and hits his head on the hard marble floor. He looks up at her, smiling and holding a crepe, and states that he's okay. Seychelles panics and mentions that his stock market went down due to her,. Italy is soon overcome by his emotions and the pain in his head and passes out, mentioning that he sees his grandfather. In a sight gag subtitled "Go To Heaven", his soul flees his body to join angel versions of Estonia and Latvia.

As Seychelles freaks out at the unconscious Italy, Japan appears and orders for her to step aside and make room. He tries to revive Italy, but says it's no use as he's "gone back to Ancient Rome". He then tells Seychelles not to worry, for he'll come back immediately. Japan yells at Italy, demanding to know what he's doing sleeping in the hallway. Italy stirs a little, as Japan orders him to put his clothes on when he goes to sleep, and to stop singing in his sleep. Italy revives, apologizing and begging for the "process" technique to stop. Italy becomes confused by the fact that he can't see Germany anywhere, but Japan explains that he must have been hearing things.

Seychelles apologizes for bumping into Italy, though Japan reveals that Italy crashes into people at least 8 times a day. Italy becomes confused, as he believes it's only 5 people. He insists that he's quite "tough". Seychelles recalls Ethiopia stating that he was an Italian territory.

Italy asks if she's a new student, and cheers over the fact that she is (while Japan tries to get him to calm down). Italy then asks Seychelles if she's decided on a school club, and recommends the "M.R." (Manga Research) club. Seychelles becomes confused by the word "manga" and asks what it is, much to the shock and horror of Japan. Italy mentions that Japan looks dejected, and he must be going through jigyaku (masochism, self-torture).

Seychelles apologizes once more, as Italy and Japan continue to recommend the club. They introduce themselves as being from the Asia and Europe classes, and that they're allied "for the time being" (though Italy wonders what Japan means by that). Seychelles introduces herself as an English territory, to the two boys' surprise. Italy tells her to be strong, for the food is terrible, while Japan tells him he shouldn't be saying things like that.

Seychelles tells the other two that she'll go to their club if she has spare time after school, and the three part ways. Seychelles thinks to herself about how the school is filled with "strange people", but does not realize that she is one herself.

Part 5
Seychelles bumps into England in the library, who informs her that she has arrived late. As Seychelles sits down for a discussion with him, England becomes confused by her usage of French words like oui and quoi?. France arrives, calling England a "Johnny Pervert". The two argue, and it is revealed that France is the vice-president of the student council. France notices that Seychelles is there, and informs England that she's his girlfriend, so he should leave her alone. England calls France out for being an "old man" (due to the hand expression he used to signify Seychelles being his lover), while France's rebuttal is that he isn't swept up by the flow of time.

France apologizes to Seychelles for not telling her in advance about England, while England becomes confused at the fact the two know each other. Seychelles thinks about how it was France who invited her to the school, and that he raised her from when she was a child, teaching her his language and culture. She mentions that when he gave her a short skirt to wear, she thought his goal was to see her body, but he acted like a gentleman to her. Seychelles explains that France is a nice person as long as you do what he says, but that if you disobey him, he can be "scary". She then mentally states that he looks like he's a little too old to be in high school.

England gets annoyed at France for claiming ownership over Seychelles, while France compliments her on her uniform. Seychelles quickly realizes that France is getting a little TOO close to her, while France explains that it's only the distance to convey love "French-style". France attempts to undress Seychelles, much to her shock and embarrassment (as she panics that he's touching her Vallee de Mai Natural Reserve and that her exchange rate will go up due to that). England notes that it looks like France is sexually harassing her, but France explains that it's only a form of expressing love and that England must contact other people with more love himself.

Seychelles screams for France to just "dissolve" and hits him, but quickly apologizes and pleads for him not to attack her. France apologizes in return and says that since he had a good time, he'll call it a tie. As England becomes baffled at the entire scene, the demo cuts off.

In The Manga
Though the actual game still remains incomplete as of this writing, the Gakuen universe was briefly revisited in the second published volume of the Axis Powers Hetalia manga.

In Academy Hetalia Christmas, the teenage versions of the Axis (Germany, Italy, and Japan) go around the school to survey the other students on how they celebrate their Christmas. The Allies also make an appearance, along with Switzerland and Finland.

Holy Roman Empire/Chibitalia

2009-06-13T00:57:43Z

74.229.40.190: /* Physical Resemblances */ added new info about HRE's teenage designs

Holy Roman Empire/Chibitalia is a popular (and canonical) pairing in the series Axis Powers Hetalia, involving the Holy Roman Empire and the child version of Italy (referred to as Ita-chan in-series, Chibitalia in merchandise and to differentiate from his adult self).

Childhood
Chibitalia and Holy Roman Empire were briefly raised together as infants, before Grandpa Rome took Chibitalia away to live with him for an indeterminate period of time. By the time Chibitalia returned to his place of birth, the other children had become bullies to him and Holy Roman Empire vowed to make Chibitalia part of his "New Roman Empire".

Life In The Empire
Chibitalia eventually wound up claimed by Austria, on the behalf of Holy Roman Empire, after a period of war. The two children lived together in the household, HRE harboring a crush on Chibitalia, who he believed to be a girl (due to his feminine sense of attire).

However, life soon became uneasy in the household. HRE soon gave Chibitalia the offer of becoming part of his "New Roman Empire", which the other child refused, remembering what had eventually happened to his grandfather. HRE left the household, leaving only Austria, Hungary, and Chibitalia behind.

It is at this point which the published version of the manga and the anime adaptation ends, with Chibitalia crying as HRE departs. (However, it should be noted that when HRE ran away in the anime, the words "To be continued" were shown, suggesting that the anime adaption of Chibitalia may not be over just yet)

The Last Goodbye
Note: This section only applies to the original webcomic version of the Chibitalia side-story

The time came when HRE had to return to collect his belongings, as he went off to war. Chibitalia, in a panic, took off "her" panties and gave them to HRE as a parting gift. HRE then asked Chibitalia what "her" people gave each other as a gift in their culture. "She" responded that it was a kiss.

After confessing that he had loved Chibitalia ever since the 900s, the two children kissed. HRE departed, promising that he would return after the war and that he would always love Chibitalia, no matter how many years go by.

Shotalia And The Thirty Years War
In a storyline announced by Hidekaz Himaruya that has yet to be published, HRE threw himself into the Thirty Years War, but became steadily weaker due to his empire falling into ruin.

Two age-progressed designs of HRE for this storyline are known to be in existence, one of which was included in the special edition of Axis Powers Hetalia volume 2. The illustrations suggest that HRE had finally aged, as Chibitalia had, by the time of the war.

Aftermath
Eventually, after the long period of war, Holy Roman Empire was believed to have died. In a scrapped strip by Himaruya, France broke the news to a teenage Italy that HRE was no more and urged him to forget about the other boy, as he had suffered enough in the war.

Before the existence of the scrapped strip was known, fanworks often depicted HRE dying in his "child" form and Chibitalia being informed of the news then by either Austria or Hungary. Historically, the actual Holy Roman Empire was dissolved by Napoleon after its last emperor, Francis II, was defeated in war and surrendered. This has lead to speculation by fans that France had killed HRE and was informing the younger Italy of his death, possibly out of guilt.

Fan Speculations
Holy Roman Empire=Germany?
A popular fan speculation, supported by hints given in canon, is that Holy Roman Empire survived his apparent "death", but gained amnesia and forgot all of his childhood memories, eventually growing up to become Germany.

The strongest hint in canon came in the Buon San Valentino cliffhanger, when after a disastrous proposal to Italy, Germany's mind became flooded with emotion and a memory of Chibitalia was shown from his point of view.

Another connection drawn by fans is the fact that Chibitalia gave HRE panties as a parting gift, while in his adulthood, Italy gave Germany a pair of underwear as a Christmas gift. The Christmas Scribbles strip series which the latter strip came from also featured a "past tale" strip with HRE involving underwear as well (he accidentally pulled down Chibitalia's underwear on Christmas after "she" got stuck in a decorations box).

Physical Resemblances
Germany is also shown to look much like HRE when his hair is not slicked back, and the two "grown-up" illustrations of HRE showed him to have a strong resemblance to Germany, albeit somewhat younger.

Though their eyes appear to be somewhat different, Germany's being more piercing and flatly-colored and HRE's to appear darker and shinier, the change could be chalked up due to aging and the changes in personality and maturity (in part due to his amnesia).

But it is to be noted that only one of the two teenage designs of HRE is actually "canon" for Shotalia, and that the illustration that was included in Axis Powers Hetalia volume 2 was actually drawn by Himaruya for a fan, in tribute to a fangame they created about the teenage Holy Roman Empire and Italy.

The Germanic Connection
HRE was also a descendant of Germania and had Prussia as an older brother, while in the later-day strips it is revealed that Germany and Prussia are brothers. Though Germania is said to have several grandchildren (or children, going by the Hetalia trading card game), two others being the little-seen Saxony and Bavaria.

There is also historical precedent for the theory of Holy Roman Empire becoming Germany: After the Holy Roman Empire was dissolved in 1806, it became known as the German Confederation, and then the German Empire. The full name of the Holy Roman Empire (from the 16th century onward) also happened to be The Holy Roman Empire Of The German Nation. However, other fans will often point out the government differences between the Holy Roman Empire and the later incarnations of Germany as evidence in an opposing argument.

It is also to be noted that after its dissolution, the German remnants of the Empire took some time to form into the Confederation, having been under control of France as The Confederation of The Rhine from 1806 to 1813, with the German Confederation being established in 1815.

During the period leading into World War II, Hitler stated that his Nazi Germany would be the Third Reich, and that the original Roman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire were the first and second, respectively.

But until the time comes when or if the cliffhanger in Buon San Valentino is followed up on, the exact canon connection between the characters of Germany and Holy Roman Empire will continue to remain somewhat ambiguous.

The fifth episode of Axis Powers Hetalia, titled "Shouting S.O.S At The Center Of The World!" (世界の中心でＳＯＳを叫ぶ, Sekai no chuushin de SOS wo sakebu), was broadcast on February 20th, 2009. The episode loosely adapts a later story of the same title from volume 1 of the published manga. This episode also marks the debut of the Allied Forces.

Plot Summary
Shouting S.O.S At The Center Of The World!
In the pre-title sequence, Italy enthusiastically informs Germany and Japan that he found a crab. Germany reminds him not to drown in the water, while Japan reveals that he has found fruit on the island. As Italy plays and swims about in the water, Japan says that he always wanted to relax on a southern island, but wonders when someone will come rescue the three of them. A "S.O.S" message is revealed to be written in the sand.

Becoming Germany's Ally
In a flashback to when Italy became Germany's ally, Italy reveals that he's made preparations for the job: A suitcase filled with pasta, wine, and fruit. He then reveals further that he's made something for them to use during combat: White "I surrender" flags.

Becoming Germany's Ally, take 2
In another gag flashback Italy announces to Germany that he's brought better items this time: another suitcase filled with pasta, fruit, and wine, but with a pizza slice inside as well. When Germany asks if he has anything useful for combat, Italy pulls out a suitcase and says that he only has Machiavelli (represented by a statue).

S.O.S, part 2
Germany has made a chart on the Allied Forces, written in the sand:

*France and England have been fighting since birth and can't cooperate with each other.

*America finds England to be a pest, and already has anti-British missions prepared.

*China is in an opium war with England.

*Russia wants China and resents England for stopping his southern advance into Asia.

*England can't stand Russia.

As Germany and Japan finish looking at the chart, Italy has finished something of his own: A giant sand sculpture of a plate of pasta, complete with spoon.

Chibitalia Pt.4
The segment picks up from where the last left off, with Chibitalia's question about pasta being shot down. Chibitalia, now in a maid dress and apron, is forced to sweep the floors at Holy Roman Empire's house. He finds himself amazed at Austria's portaits, and searches for something to draw with. All he finds are a paintbrush and a bottle of ink. Austria catches Chibitalia painting a mustache on his self-portrait with the ink.

S.O.S, part 3
As Italy sleeps by the campfire, Germany and Japan discuss name ideas for their team. Japan comes up with the name "Suujiku" ("To tie our houses together, and then the rest of the world revolves around us"). Germany reveals that in German, it would be "Ein Achse", while Italy briefly rouses to say that in Italian, it would be "Ein Asse". As Italy dreams on, he pictures that the Earth actually is revolving around their three countries.

The final scene is of the next morning, viewed through a pair of binoculars. The five members of the Allied Forces can be heard arguing, with America declaring himself the hero and China muttering "Here we go again."

The next episode teaser shot is of the five Allied Forces members looking on, with America holding the pair of binoculars.

The fourth episode of Axis Powers Hetalia was broadcast on February 13th, 2009. It adapts from the Axis Powers arc of the first published manga volume, and introduces the character of Japan.

Plot Summary
Meet Japan
The pre-title segment picks up from where the teaser left off, as Germany discusses business with Japan, having brought Italy along with him. Italy however, is busy flirting with a bunch of Japanese girls and annoying a bystander. Japan signs the Tripartite Pact, and becomes the third and final member of the group.

U-Boat Miniatures
Germany asks Japan if he would be able to build a U-Boat, only for Japan to produce a miniature model of one. He goes on to mention that there are 12 different colors and patterns available, that new colors will be released with the season, and that a popular voice actress will play the commercial announcer. He then reveals that it can also transform into a giant robot.

While relaxing in a hot spring, Italy mentions to Japan that Germany told him about the miniature U-Boats, and asks if he could make a miniature version of himself. As Japan tries to explain that they don't offer miniature Italians, Italy sees that Japan even has a miniature "down there".

Chibitalia Pt.3
Chibitalia, with a wild dog gnawing at the back of his hat, notices Spain sitting alone and depressed. When he asks him what's wrong, Spain only tells him to do everything he likes while he still can, as Austria and France fight in the background.

Chibitalia finally understands what Spain meant, as Austria wins the war and claims him as his own, standing triumphantly atop a fallen Romano. As Chibitalia cries, Austria tells him that he (Austria) will be in charge of Chibitalia's politics, and that Chibitalia will be his servant and obey his every word. Chibitalia asks if there will be pasta, only to be quickly shot down.

Japan, Germany, And Italy
Germany reflects on how powerful Japan has grown to be, his qualities, and his common catchphrases:

*"I'll try my best."
*"Until next time."
*"I'll think about it."
*"All of my answers are "no"."

His attention then turns to Italy, who emits a cheer of "Pasta!". He finds himself lost for words as to what the "Italy of now" is.

Next Episode Preview
Italy narrates the preview for the following episode, entitled "Shouting S.O.S At The Center Of The World", a story also adapted from volume 1 of the published Hetalia manga.

Character Appearances
*North Italy
*Germany
*Japan

*Romano (non-speaking cameo)

This detail has been left out of the anime so far.

The third episode of Axis Powers Hetalia was broadcast on February 06, 2009. It adapts from the Prologue and Axis Powers arcs of the first published manga volume. Unlike the other early episodes, there is no Chibitalia segment featured.

Plot Summary
Italy's Song
In this pre-title segment, Italy writes and sings a song for Germany, about Germany. It first starts out as a compliment, only to turn into a bizarre rant about Germans and how they frighten him. Germany proceeds to ship Italy back home in a cardboard box.

Italy Gets A Job (WWI)
The segment starts out with Germany learning that France has blamed the war that he lost all on him, and is making unreasonable demands. Germany is forced to send money to France, and build a multitude of cuckoo clocks. He voices that he is glad, however, to have ditched Italy and finally be alone, only for Italy to show back up to demand a job.

Italy is kicked out once more, but pleads with Germany about his poverty situation. He winds up working at the house, making bills, as he narrates in a letter back to his brother about the ridiculous money situation.

Italy Becomes An Ally (WWII)
Italy watches news of the war on TV, mad that Germany is attacking France again. Meanwhile, while Germany's plotting the rest of his war against France, he is informed that Italy has become his ally. Italy shows up, only to be literally kicked out by Germany and sent flying. He winds up thrown right back at Germany.

Italy manages to convince Germany to form an alliance with him, only for the two to wind up stranded in a desert where Italy keeps using up their water supply to boil pasta.

Teaser
A shot of Japan, surrounded by cherry blossoms. He turns, and says "Pleased to make your acquaintance".

Character Appearances
*North Italy
*Germany
*France (cameo)
*Japan (teaser cameo)

Voice Cast
The second episode of Axis Powers Hetalia was broadcast on January 30th, 2009, further adapting "Prologue" and "Chibitalia".

Plot Summary
The episode picks up where the post-credits scene cliffhanger left off, with Germany staring at the crate of tomatoes.

WWI
Germany opens the crate of tomatoes, despite the "crate"'s protest. A frightened and tearful North Italy emerges, begging Germany not to kill him. Germany believes that Italy's dense attitude is all an act, however, since Ancient Rome was a powerful warrior. However, when Italy falls and can't get up, Germany finds himself rethinking that.

Chibitalia Pt.2
The Holy Roman Empire still wants Chibitalia to be one with him, and faces off against France, while Spain offers Chibitalia some churros. We learn at one point, both halves of Italy lived in peace. However, both were very useless and wound up literally kicked around by the other nations (France, Austria, Spain, and Holy Roman Empire), who kept taking pieces of their land and culture for themselves.

WWI pt.2
Germany is successful in capturing Italy, only to find that the other man doesn't seem to mind being held prisoner. He attempts to let him go free, only for Italy to come back after talking to a bunch of girls.

Holy Roman Empire/Chibitalia

2009-04-06T23:26:12Z

74.229.40.190: /* Moments */

Chibitalia/Holy Roman Empire is a popular (and canonical) pairing in the series Axis Powers Hetalia, involving the child version of Italy and the Holy Roman Empire.

Aftermath
Eventually, after a long period of war, Holy Roman Empire was believed to have died. In a scrapped strip by Hidekaz Himaruya, France broke the news to a teenage Italy that HRE was no more and urged him to forget about the other boy, as he had suffered enough in the war.

Two age-progressed designs of HRE are also known to be in existence, one of which was included in the special edition of Axis Powers Hetalia volume 2. The illustrations suggest that HRE had finally aged, as Chibitalia had, by the time of his death.

The strongest hint in canon came in the Buon San Valentino cliffhanger, when after proposing to Italy, Germany's mind became flooded with emotion and a memory of Chibitalia was shown from his point of view.

The Germanic Connection
HRE was also a descendant of Germania and had Prussia as an older brother, while in the later-day strips it is revealed that Germany and Prussia are brothers. Though Germania is said to have several grandchildren, two others being the little-seen Saxony and Bavaria.

There is also historical precedent for the theory of Holy Roman Empire becoming Germany: After the Holy Roman Empire was dissolved in 1806, it became known as the German Confederation, and then the German Empire. The full name of the Holy Roman Empire also happened to be The Holy Roman Empire Of The German Nation. However, other fans will often point out the government differences between the Holy Roman Empire and the later incarnations of Germany as evidence in an opposing argument.

Until the time comes when or if the cliffhanger in Buon San Valentino is followed up on, the exact canon connection between the characters of Germany and Holy Roman Empire will continue to remain somewhat ambiguous.

Appearance
She has long, light brown hair and green eyes, though in some art and merchandise her hair is colored blonde. Her usual outfit is a green military uniform and matching beret. In other instances, she can be seen dressed in a maid outfit.

The flower she wears in her hair (alternatively colored yellow or pink), according to notes by Himaruya, is meant to represent Balaton.

Personality And Interests
In her past, she was once a nomadic girl who loved to chase after horses on the plains, and was a rather tomboyish child, to the point where she believed herself to be a boy until hitting puberty. She is described as being both a reliable older sister type, and the manliest character in the series.

She also doesn't get along well with Romanians.

Relationships
Roderich Edelstein (Austria)
Main Article: Roderich Edelstein

Elizabeta's boyfriend, formerly her husband. The two still appear to be close.

Trivia
*Her first name, due to not being rendered in romaji, is often a subject of debate as to how it should be spelled. Elizabeta is the most common spelling in use for it, though some fan sources use Elizaveta, as well as Elisabeth and Elizabeth. However, the actual Hungarian equivalent of Elizabeth would be Erzsébet or Ersébet.

}}

This detail has been left out of the anime so far.

List of Hetalia: Axis Powers chapters

2009-03-18T05:08:45Z

74.229.40.190:

This is a list of the various chapters and side-stories in the original webcomic version of Axis Powers Hetalia, by Hidekaz Himaruya.

Main Storyline
The main storyline currently takes place in the timeframe between WWI and WWII, with the introduction of both the Axis Powers and Allied Forces. The fifth chapter in the storyline is still ongoing, and has yet to be translated

Hetalia Chapter 1
The first arc in the main storyline covers the meeting of Germany and Italy, followed by the formation of the Axis Powers. The seventh episode of Axis Powers Hetalia was broadcast on March 6th, 2009. The episode, based off the strips Meet My Big Brother! and Good Luck! Big Brother!, formally introduces Romano (South Italy) to the cast.

Plot Summary
Allied Forces
In the Allied Forces base, America conducts a meeting to discuss how to take down the Axis Powers, but his speech is drowned out by his own rapid eating and drinking, much to the irritation of England.

Meet My Big Brother!
Italy introduces Germany to his older brother Romano, who reacts rudely and refers to Germany as a "potato bastard". As Italy attempts to restrain his brother, Germany remarks that the number of annoying men has increased.

In the next scene, Romano confronts Germany about his "corruption" of Italy, the mass of German tourists invading his house, and goes as far as to accuse Germany of being the reason he stepped in a pile of rabbit feces, to which Germany wonders how it could be his fault. An enraged Romano prepares to throw tomatoes at him, only to be frightened by France (who has popped out of a sewer) and wind up begging Germany to hide him from France (who winds up frightened by the sight of Germany).

Good Luck! Big Brother!
Romano confronts Germany again, and enacts his revenge: Holding a fake mustache up to make it look like (from his point of view) that Germany has a ridiculous mustache. However, Germany points out that from his point of view, it looks like Romano has the mustache, causing the other man to cease his laughter and become embarrassed.

A humiliated Romano cries to his brother about how he made a fool of himself, though Italy tells him not to cry and proceeds to list all the good things about Germany. Romano asks Italy if he would praise him like he does Germany, causing the younger brother to silently scoot away in response. Romano reacts with an angered outburst of "I hate you!" and literally rockets out of the house through the roof, causing an explosion.

Chibitalia pt.6
Holy Roman Empire returns home to find Chibitalia sweeping the floors. Chibitalia becomes frightened upon seeing HRE, who runs off to his bedroom. He proceeds to roll around the bed and loudly cheer over Chibitalia's arrival, as an annoyed Austria tells him to keep it down.

Lovino Vargas (often referred to as Romano) is a character in the series Axis Powers Hetalia. He represents the southern half of Italy, and is the older brother of Feliciano.

Appearance
He has dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and appears to be slightly tanner than his younger brother (though there is no visible difference in skintone in the anime adaptation).

Like his brother, he has a wild long curl that acts as his erogenous zone, though it rests on the right side of his head, as opposed to the left. He wears a tan uniform in a different style than Feliciano's, though sometimes he wears a similar uniform with a brown dress shirt and black tie.

Personality And Interests
Lovino is friendly and kind to women, but is strict and less social to men. Despite appearing to be tougher than his younger brother, he is just as cowardly and ineffectual. He is also a good pickpocket despite not being very skilled with his hands, and speaks in profanity rather often.

Relationships
Feliciano Vargas (North Italy/Veneziano)
Main Article: Feliciano Vargas

The two of them grew up together until Feliciano went off to live with their grandfather. After he had died and Feliciano came back, Lovino and the other boys had since become bullies to him. The two were separated again at the end of the Italian War, when Feliciano was claimed by the Holy Roman Empire and Roderich, while Lovino went to live with Antonio. In the present day, the two brothers don't get along very well, Lovino occasionally even refusing to acknowledge his brother's existance. As a child, Lovino often felt jealous and inferior to Feliciano, due to the younger brother inheriting their grandfather's talent for art.

Ludwig (Germany)
Main Article: Ludwig

Unlike his brother, Lovino hates Ludwig and can't stand to see him and Feliciano together, referring to him as a "potato bastard" and "potato macho".

Antonio Fernandez Carriedo (Spain)
Main Article: Antonio Fernandez Carriedo

Because he was raised by him for so long, he takes after him in his culture, customs, and religion, as well as his love for tomatoes. While Antonio is often affectionate to him, Romano tends to treat him rather coldly.

In The Anime
Lovino is first shown briefly in the Chibitalia segment of Episode 01 as a small child, and makes further non-speaking cameos in episodes 2 and 4. The adult Lovino finally appears in Episode 07, which adapts Meet My Big Brother! and Good Luck! Big Brother! from Hetalia volume 1. Both the child and adult versions of Lovino are voiced by Daisuke Namikawa, who also voices Feliciano.

74.229.40.190:

Axis Powers Hetalia is the anime adapation of Hidekaz Himaruya's manga of the same title, which premiered on Animate.Tv on January 24th, 2009. Directed by Bob Shirohata, the series is scheduled to run for 26 episodes. It is animated by Studio Deen.

Most of the storyline takes place between the 2 World Wars, however there are segments taking place in earlier times and the modern day as well. The anime is adapted from the published version of the manga, rather than the original webcomic, so early events like the forming of the Axis Powers have been condensed, and some storylines have been left out completely.

The fifth episode of Axis Powers Hetalia, titled "Shouting S.O.S At The Center Of The World!", was broadcast on February 20th, 2009.

The episode itself also is only loosed based off the original S.O.S strip.

*So far, this is the only episode to have an episode title.

Elizabeta Héderváry is a character in the series Axis Powers Hetalia. She represents the country Hungary.

Appearance
She has long, light brown hair and green eyes. Her usual outfit is a green military uniform and matching beret.

Elizabeta is the most common spelling in use for it, though some fan sources use Elizaveta. The actual Hungarian equivalent of Elizabeth would be Erzebet, however.

Axis Powers Hetalia is a webmanga by Hidekaz Himaruya, that began in 2003 and continues to run on his website "Kitayume". It has been adapted into print form, several drama CDs, and an anime series.

The series involves anthropomorphic representations of the world's nations, with the main storyline taking place in WWI and WWII, though there are stories set in earlier and more modern eras. The series is named for the main character Italy, with "Hetalia" being a portmanteau of the words hetare (useless) and Italia.

Plot
During WWI, Germany, in search of the heir to the empire of Ancient Rome, finds Italy hiding in a crate and takes him as a captive. After living with him to the start of WWII, Italy takes it upon himself to become Germany's ally. The two are soon joined by Japan, though the three wind up having to deal with the arrival of the Allied Forces: America, England, France, China, and Russia.

Characters
The Hetalia series is notable for its large, colorful cast of characters. Each of the characters represents a nation, complete with the stereotypes attributed to it. The original webcomic initially focused on the nations of the Axis Powers vs. the Allied Forces, with the cast quickly expanding to include others.

The main storyline so far involves five chapters, a bonus story, and several side stories and "comic diary" strips by Himaruya.

Hetalia Chapter 1
The first arc in the main storyline covers the meeting of Germany and Italy, followed by the formation of the Axis Powers. Other events in the arc include Italy traveling to Egypt to start a fight (only to wind up needing Germany to bail him out), and Germany and Italy becoming prisoners of war.

Hetalia Chapter 2: Allied Forces
The Allied Forces, lead by America, form to take down the Axis Powers.

Hetalia Chapter 3: G-R Non Aggression Pact
The Axis Powers train for war as England attempts to sabotage America in various ways.

Hetalia Chapter 4: Pact Of Steel
Italy becomes paranoid of Germany and Japan abandoning him due to his weakness, while Lithuania overhears Russia's plans to invade Poland. Italy and Germany form the "Pact Of Steel", much to the aggravation of Italy's older brother, Romano.

Chibitalia
The story of Italy in his youth, and his relationship with the Holy Roman Empire.

Hetalia 5: Lietuvis
Media
Published Manga
A print version of the manga came out in 2008, and has been collected into two volumes so far. The published version differs somewhat from the original online strips, with several events being retold or redrawn for better quality. New strips exclusive to the volumes were also included. Some scenes have also been cut or edited from the originals for content (ie: Holy Roman Empire kissing Chibitalia in the "Chibitalia" arc).

The first volume was released on March 17th, 2008, with the second volume being released in December.

Drama CDs
There have been three drama CDs released for the series so far, with a fourth to come.

*Hetalia Drama CD: Prologue, released as a Comic Market 74 exclusive on August 15, 2008.
*Hetalia Drama CD: Volume 1, released on October 24, 2008.
*Hetalia Drama CD: Prologue 2, released as a Comic Market 75 exclusive on December 29, 2008.
*Hetalia Drama CD: Volume 2, to be released on April 22, 2009.

The first two CDs feature the Axis Powers, Austria, and the Allied Forces, with the absence of China, who wasn't cast at the time. Instead, Lithuania is included in the main cast. China however, did make his debut in "Prologue 2" along with Hungary. Sealand is slated to appear in "Volume 2", though his voice actor has not yet been announced.

Anime
An anime adaptation of Axis Powers Hetalia was announced in July 2008, and premiered on January 24th, 2009 on Animate.TV. It was originally scheduled to air on Kids Station, but was pulled from the lineup due to "various circumstances". It is scheduled for 26 episodes.
